As my nurse explained - little going v in, little coming out! She recommended Benefiber, which u can order thru Amazon as Boots no longer stock it. I also upped my fluids a lot and the problem sorted itself before the Benefiber arrived. My nurse said no laxatives or stool softeners.

I am now over 4 weeks out on soft food and haven't use anything as eating solids has meant body back to normal processing.

Hope this helps and u feel better soon :-)

Fleets suppositories worked for me within an hour. Hope you get relief soon. For me I lacked fluids. At 6 1/2 months post op I use a stool softener and clear and natural metmuscil (spelling)? Daily or my plumbing will not work. I drink over 70 oz of liquid daily so that is not the problem. My Dr says that this is very common for this type of surgery....

Ducolux pearls, they are tiny and easy to take and work for me, available in any chemist but you might have to ask at the pharmacy section for them.

Dulcolax or Actimax liquids are good, combined with an enema (attack things from both ends) product such as Fleet or Microlax. Movicol is good too.

Lower back pain could be a sign of impaction, so important to get things moving. No laxatives though! Apparently peristalsis they cause is to be avoided for the first 6 weeks.

Good luck.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
