Sleeved May 15 and Regretting it

Recommended Posts

I don't know what's wrong with me right now. I'm feeling sad. I know it is all about mental strength and will power. But sitting here at Panera' date=' studying, and occasionally glancing at people eating their delicious sandwiches makes me jealous. I jealously cuss them out in my head. I tell my parents when I get sad but they are absolutely no help. They simply say well you are the stupid one you did this to yourself! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> they are right... I paid to get my sleeve and now Im regretting it. I lost 15 lbs on my own just with working out and hi prot low carb diet...

Will I ever be able to eat half a sandwich with ease again ? That is my question..

I had surgery may 15. I started week 2 of my liquid diet. I ordered Broccoli Cheddar and asked them to sift out the solids, I had about 4 tablespoons and my tummy hurts. I thought i could get away with the creamy Soup since its low cal, but i guess not. I'm feeling like I regret getting sleeved. I'm in a slump. Any advice.[/quote']

I about 8 months -- when you've lost 80-100 pounds... You won't regret it

My sleeve was done may 14 so I'm going through the same thing... I've been watching food vs man or food network when I feel like I need food! I live through the ppl eating lol-- and my mom is the best cook ever-- so when my fam is eating I either go to my room or leave the house to walk for a while. If you feel upset and ever wanna talk just send me a message!

At first I regretted this but I have a friend that has had her sleeve for about a yr and SHE EATS WHATEVER SHE WANTS and drinks from straws, drinks soda and caffeine

.. With time you'll be able to eat normal stuff just less of it! Hope this helped

I was sleeved on the 17th, and attended an awards banquet for my son tonight. It was hard watching everyone eat sliced roast beef and mashed potatoes, and I really wanted to run my finger through my son's frosting on his cupcake... But I had a cup of milk and just kept drinking my Water and the fullness took care of the urge.

You win that $300 bucks and make daddy eat his words. Smile while you do it. Best, revenge, ever.

I am trying to use all the negativity as fuel, but at times they really get me down. In due time things will get better

Try some fat free Campbell's cream of chicken' date=' broccoli cheese, or cream of mushroom. I'm May 16. This phase is really hard because hunger and cravings are starting ti return a little bit. My doc also allows hummus, thinned hot Cereal, and cauliflower pureed w skim milk now. You need to have a way to satisfy your requirements with some variety. And I know panera is nice but that just seems like torture! What about a library? I'm sorry you're feeling bad. This will pass.[/quote']

Awesome Campbell's Soup and hummus. Man I'm so glad I found this site. I thank you very much for the food ideas. I think I jus really need to get creative with food now.

This forum is a great source of support when you need advice, want to rant, want a sympathetic ear, or need a kick in the but. You are freshly sleeved and it is normal to have those feelings. Try to connect with a good support group in your area who will be there when you family or friends are not. Stay encouraged, better days and a healthier life are ahead of you. This is a big family and we are always here for you. Keep coming back often and we will be a part of your support team.

Good luck and keep pressing forward, you'll love where you'll be in the coming months.

No, don't use it as fuel. That just created a negative vibe within you too. Ask them to give you the chance to prove what you can do. They don't have to be cheerleaders, that's what we're for, but they could zip their lips for a bit and watch what happens.

If your environment is continuously hostile, can you relocate from it? You are improving your life on so many levels, that it just may be another one needing fixing.

For soft foods, I like Anderson Split Pea Soup. I also love Sleepy Time Tea with a little Splenda. So soothing!

It's very normal to be down the weeks following surgery, even with lots of support. Your body is healing from a major surgery and hormones are raging. I saw one poster is cold. That's normal too. My heating bill was so high the first year. Here's a tip if you're cold: toss your blanket in the dryer for 5 minutes and then bundle up with it. Mmmh!

Take this time to heal and be kind to yourself. You deserve it!

Thinking of all you May Sleevers. May is my month too.

I really don't have strong family support. Its only been a week and whenever they see me struggle to drink my fluids, I'm told I'm so stupid for doing this to myself. My dad says I destroyed my body with the surgery. I hate it. Dad says, that **** ain't gonna work, you will lose some weight but gain it right back and he literally bet me $300 because he's so confident. I need a new family!

Sorry for venting I think I need a therapist.

It's not Panera or Soup or sandwiches or any if your favorite things that are the problem, it's your family. Work out your issues with them and your issues with your sleeve will :poof:, I'd bet $300 on that.

They may never come around and that's ok. YOU need to work out your issues with them WITHOUT THEIR PARTICIPATION, if that makes sense. This type I crap is causing you to doubt what may have been the best decision for you and I am angry for you. It's time to get angry, too, and fight for your own health, physically and mentally.

Grrrrrrrr....

Love this, I thought I was the only one watching the food network post op, I'm 4wks out and love watching cooking shows, I feel like I've eaten by watching and it doesn't bother me at all, and people think I'm crazy for watching while I drink my Protein shakes lol!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
