I know my suregeon knows what he is doing...BUT. I start my pre op diet and i am to have 4-5 Meal Replacements a day plus broth, Jello sf pudding, sf popsicles. But my Meal Replacement Isopure is 50g of Protein per serving and if I do 4-5 a day that is between 200-225 grams of Protein a day!

Is there such a thing as too much protein? Has anyone taking in this much on the pre op diet. Is he having me load up on protein for surgery because I wont be able to take any right after? And this is his plan for all his patients. I mean you don't have to do the Isopure brand but still seems like a lot of protein.

I don't know what kind of Isopure you are talking about? I use the bottles that are 40 gr of Protein and 20 oz but that is 2 servings. So if you had 4 servings of this it would be 80 gr protein. Check your label for servings. Taking 50 gr at one time is not good because some say it does not get absorbed.

I'm using isopure 100 percent whey isolate Protein powder 50 gram protein per serving. I'm starting 14 days of all liquid pre op diet. Need 4 Meal Replacement drinks daily. Got from the doctor, but is only for pre op phase.

I also have Isopure 50 grams of protein... Was on my list of shakes. Started my 2 week preop on the 2nd. Same plan as you. Except mine has one meal 4oz Protein and veggies.

The typical recommendation is around 60-80g per day for the ladies and up to around 100g per day for the guys; if one is into some serious muscle building then one may use up into the 150 or so range (and no one who is going thru this weight loss is into that category, at least until they reach maintenance!) Anything more than what the body needs is just peed away, and little, if any, is stored day to day (except in our muscles and other lean tissues, and we don't want to be drawing from them!)

The problem is your body can not process 50 grams of Protein at one time. The highest I've seen from doctors is around 30. You can drink it, but you will just pee it out. I'd cut those shakes in half.

As stated above, most surgeons suggest 60-70 for women & men at 100. My surgeon put me at 100-130 as my bloodwork showed my Protein was low at 90-100 & to support my workouts.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
