I'm starting my sleeve journey and beginning to complete all of the pre-operative testing. I'm curious to know, for those who have sleeved, what are your biggest regrets about getting the sleeve? What would you have done differently? Why?

At this point, I don't have any regrets at all, since I've made it through the really difficult early post op stages. I seriously wondered for a while if I had done the right thing, though. I spent a lot of time worrying I would end up with a complication, and it made me think I shouldn't have taken the risk since I was so worried about it. Now that I'm seeing results and feeling well, I'm happy with my decision.

My biggest regret is the lack of energy. I have orthostatic hypotension (dizzy when I stand up fast) due to low blood pressure. I find that I'm having it way more often. And yes, I drink all my Water and get my food in. As far as eating is concerned it's a bit wasteful to eat out at times. I would LOVE to have leftovers the next day, but some things just don't keep. I find that a "side" of something holds me over. I also kind of miss the length of the meal. Does that make sense? Umm..I'm done eating in 7 minutes and have to wait for everyone else to finish. It's weird, I know, but it kind of changes the experience.

I have never regretted getting this done, however there have been times I've been mad I couldn't eat more of something really good, but that passes in a few minutes. The weight loss and feeling better and healthy out weight any of those feelings I have for food.< /p>

Not one regret! I'd do it again in a heartbeat, and wish I didn't wait as long as I did.

Same here. I've never regretted having my sleeve. I have wished (plenty) that I could eat more of something tasty. BUT my sleeve helped me not over-do it, also... That craving goes away. It is tough sometimes, though.

I'm pre-sleeve and it's great to hear all the positive things people have to say about their experience!

I am over 4 months out now and I definitely had doubts initially post-op like "oh my, what have I done to myself?" lol My honest answer is this...there are negatives, I am losing my hair and occaisionally I take that one bite too much of something and feel like crap, I have to take antacids and Vitamins daily, and sometimes I want something and just can't do it because I am afraid my sleeve will not approve, or sometimes I do eat that something and it doesn't taste as good as I remember. The first 4 weeks post-op is a pretty rough time as well! Considering these negatives, I still have not one regret, I am 95 pounds down and my quality of life has improved immensely and so in turn has my family's! My health is better, I have no problems breathing, I quit smoking for surgery and have not started again, I can get up in the morning and go, I take my son for walks and to the park and to the mall. I can come home from work and not need to sleep for 2 days because I am exhausted! The list of positive things in my life is much longer than 4 months ago and I wouldn't trade it for the world! ;-)

Totally no regrets, I would do it over again if I had to.

Hi! I posted yesterday a pretty negative post as I am on day 10 pre op and this smooth liquid diet/liquid diet is very hard. I was regretting my decision as I am a slow loser. I did lose 11 lbs on the pre op diet so maybe my body is still adjusting. I am also 60 yrs old which means my metabolism isn't very fast. Any way I got a lot of positive posts and have decided to try to be more positive. This is a difficult time right after surgery. A lot of people say the hardest part is the month after surgery. I really miss chewing something even just a carrot. I miss eating and guess I am going through the mourning of my old life centered around my next meal or snack. Me and food were best friends and the breakup is hard. Now it is hard to want to overeat when your options are Protein Shakes, yogurt, cream Soups etc. I can have popcicles and Jello but for some reason they are now too sweet to me. I used to be the biggest sweet eater. Always bought a candy bar or two when I was checking out. I used to say I could just live on sweets. Now no cravings for sweets at all which is great. I guess my point is that the sleeve is worth it as it enables you to become the smaller, healthier person you want to be be but this isn't easy especially right after surgery. Every day gets a little better. In 5 weeks when I am allowed to eat almost anything in a much smaller amount, I think I will be so glad I did this but right now 10 days post op it is a struggle.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
