Have some, see how it sits on your tummy (if your doc allows carbonation at this period). Mine said no carbonation until four months so I had champagne at 4 months and about 32 seconds :P For me champagne is fine but the larger bubbles in soda's are not comfortable. We'll see how I feel when gin and tonic weather comes around....I can't afford to drink champagne all summer LOL

Kaiser recommends giving up carbonation for life because it stretches out your stomach. I agree! I didn't have 85% of mine cut out just so I could stretch it all out again! Not being judgmental of anyone but myself! =)

At 6 weeks I've had soda a time or two and some champagne. It didn't really have an adverse effect but I discovered that the carbonation sticks around a while in my stomach. Then when its time to eat something I can only eat 2 bites. One day it took me almost all day to drink a medium soda from Sonic. Couldn't eat a darn thing because of it. Some people don't have a problem at all.

I was told no carbonation for life. Luckily I have never been a big soda drinker so not a big deal. I do feel sorry for all of you who love your pop!

What amazes me is all the different information we get from our individual surgeons. Very confusing!!!

Most doctors suggest no carbonated drinks for life. 1 because there are chances of the staple lines getting affected, 2 coz the gas is going to take up all the space in your tiny stomach and 3 because its just very bad. I was addicted to coke Pepsi.. Everything! And in a way I'm happy I had to give it up because let's face it- it's bad for all of us. Sleeve or no sleeve

I have given up soda for the past 1 1/2 years. It is a huge trigger and not worth it!

Once your staple line has healed, carbonation will have no effect on it.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
