    • Within the first two months after surgery - pretty discouraging to go through the surgery and not be losing weight!

    • Two to six months after surgery - sticking to the diet, but haven't yet hit your stride

I hit my 1st stall at 2 months and stayed there for 4 weeks. I dropped 10lbs more in about 3 weeks time and now have been stalled for about 8 weeks. I am seeing inches disappear though, so although I would like to see the lbs move, I am not completely bummed. In 5 months I have dropped 55lbs and 6 dress sizes! Weight wise, I would like to drop another 45lbs, but would be ok with another 30.

I'm 3 weeks post op I started at 315 when I got home from hospital I weighed 313 first week I dropped to 302 then by the second week I was all the way down to 280 now a week later I've been stuck at exactly 280 but don't make sense I'm walking 3 miles on treadmill everyday and only having at most 500 calories a day I think imma start weighing myself once a month so I don't keep getting frustrated wit scale

4,5,and 6 mths....nudda....then dropped 4lb in one week...and now 8mths nudda again....sooooo sick of it...did know this was going to be so hard...I thought it just all came off till it was all off....oh no...at about 5 mths u have to work real real hard at it...so depressed about it all...have lost 68 lb in 8 mths with 35 to go...

IM 3 WEEKS POST OP THIS COMING MON. IVE BEEN AT THE SAME WEIGHT FOR A WEEK. NOW. ITS TOOK BE A BIT LONGER TO GET MY STRENGTH BACK BUT IM WALKING ON THE TREADMILL ABOUT 3 TIMES A WEEK. NEXT WEEK ILL BUMP IT UP TO 4. I ONLY WEIGH ONCE A WEEK. I WOULD DRIVE MYSELF CRAZY IF I HAD A DIGITAL scale IN THE HOUSE! ITS HARDER THAN I THOUGHT DEALING WITH THE NUMBERS NOT MOVING LIKE I EXPECTED.

I have been stuck fluctuating between 156-159 lbs for 6 weeks or so. I am almost 7 months out and this is my first real stall. Since its happening around the 6 month mark, I am scared that my body has decided to stop losing even though I have 25-35 lbs left to lose. I have been trying to tell myself all the positive things I have told others during stalls but I am getting REALLY nervous.

At almost 8 months out my weight loss has seriously slowed down with a major plateau from month seven to eight. The scale has finally started moving again with a drop in size as well.

I have been in a stall for about 2 months now. :(

This is my "happy weight" as well. I find that it is so hard to drop past 168 for me! I am about a year out now and am still pushing!

I don't know if what I am experiencing are really stalls. I lost my first 30lbs the first 7 weeks post op and now I am down 45-48lbs (menstrual week gained 3) and I am almost 6 months out. It is a bit frustrating to say the least. I have not found that working out is making it easier either. I am just going with the flow. My body is comfortable in the 220s that has been my weight most of my adult life. I think once I get past this point I may make some headway.

well i was doing well till 5 weeks ago it just would move, i would balance 222-226 ive tried everything i could to break it. i even started working out about 4-5 weeks ago. i have a little hope seeing others stalled for longer periods of time, which lets me know it will move again.

whats funny is everyone keep telling me every weeek i look smaller i am not noticing it in my cloths at all.

my dr has me at 1200 cals but i feel like i should up my cals and see if it will start it. maybe eat some fatty foods and shock my body. i dont know anymore i just dont know

At about two months my scale didn’t move. Started eating every 2 hours, small meals or snack, and the scale started to move again. Slowly, but its moving.

I've been stalled for about 3 months now. I lost the first 70 lbs almost effortlessly; but then my weight has come to a complete standstill. I've been okay with that, but now I am ready to lose again. I've stocked up on the Protein Drinks, and plan to just go back to the beginning and start with the drinks again. I hope that, along with increasing my exercise days will jumpstart my body to start losing again. My goal is to lose 35 more pounds. Does anyone have any other ideas of how to get out my stall?

I am 3.5 months post surgery and have been progressing at a snails pace since early February. I have lost about 55 pounds total, only 15 in the last 6 weeks. I saw the doctor for my 3 month post op last week and he had hoped i would be at a 70-75 pound weight loss. I am eating the right things, getting in my Protein and Water. i just don't know what else to do. Exercising 3 -4 days a week and am going to try to increase it some. Some days I wonder if this was the right thing to do. I know 50 pounds is better than 0 but I really want to see more! Any advice?

yep added cals fat in my diet and upped carbs and started back on my Calcium scale moved

So good to read all of these posts. I am 6 months post op. I seem to loose 10 lbs and then stall. Then I get grumpy with myself and get back on track, and another 10 and so on and so on. I have lost 60, with 60 to go. Grrr....

All the talking about our bodies happy weight got me thinking. I have always joked that every time I get into a size 16 my body freaks out and something happens to make me gain weight. Is it self sabotage, psychological, coincidence, or just dumb luck??? I would think self sabotage but I broke my leg in 3 places with surgery one time, band slipped with unfill another 2 times, and tubing fractured with surgery another.

The difference this time is I have been in a 16 for almost 2 months instead of the one day or one week before.... I'm really going to have to examine this. And I'm also going to have to keep wearing the 16's instead of the 18's that I have more of.

Soo what would a size 16 represent negatively psychologically? I am 9 lbs away from 100 lbs total lost over the years, and 4 lbs from my lowest lapband weight. (1 day, then back up).

Sorry just rambling thoughts here, anyone feel free to give me some insights.

To answer your question Alex, this right now is a hard plateau/stall/gain/fluctuation, whatever you want to call it. Started about week2 and continues thru week 8! Every time I think it's over and I'm dropping, it's right back up again.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

      Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
