South Beach Diet

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've just moved from Texas to Buffalo, NY and am seeing a new doctor. I have been instructed to go on the South Beach Diet in order to facilitate weight loss. I've not been doing very well on the band. I lost 40 lbs in 11 months and then regained 12 in the past 6 weeks. Anyone had success with South Beach? Anyone not had success with the band? Apparently I'm a rare case. Lucky me.

Monica

I liked South Beach in my pre-band days. I found that I really liked the food, but if I didn't take the time to prepare my food ahead of time I fell off the wagon. So my advice would be to make sure you pack your lunch for work and always have good food in your fridge at home so you're not tempted.

Hello! I have used the South Beach Diet and am currently following it here and there. You will get all the info you ever wanted on Prevention.com then go to the South Beach Diet forums. I think I will eat South Beach primarily after I get banded. It is very easy and if you go off one meal, you just start South Beach the next meal.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
