Hate fat free products?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else with me on hating fat free dairy? Other than Greek yogurt I just can't get behind the idea. The cheese doesn't melt, the texture is usually weird.

My question is why do we use this junk anyway? I know we want to watch our cals and fat but with eating so little I am much fonder of having the real stuff (or at least reduced fat)!!

So what do y'all think? Any decent ff products that hold up to their fattier counterparts? Specific recipes where you can't tell the difference if ff or not? Sleevers far out or in maintenance who use the fattier versions?

Fat free products tend to have more carbs to make them more palatable. I always eat full fat cheese (i am not a milk drinker except for " pure Protein shakes"). I don't worry about the fat, i concentrate on having 20-50 carbs a day. The rest mostly Protein, and the fat that is attached to it.

I think the lower fat foods tend to be more manufactured so you aren't really eating "real" food... I agree with NDN_RN... go with REAL food that is low carb and the fats in them are naturally occurring and usually attached to a natural protein... going this route should keep you full longer and you may not actually need as much to keep you full b/c those natural fats will keep you fuller. I don't suggest going overboard on foods with higher fat, but I think the low fat substitutes are too processed to be healthy... truly a cost/benefit thing!

Ok so I wrote a big long reply and it wouldn't go through. I am at 3 mos out close to your sw and have been stuck at 169-170 for the last month. I have joined cardio classes and work out at home... But I know weight loss is primarily to do with eating. I still measure my food. Can you tell me what and how much you eat topically in a day? Pick an easy day as I am cooking challenged lol. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Also how tall are you?

Wow. You are very close to me at 170. I hover around 162-165 at 5 months out. I am 5 ft 8. My goal is 160. My son says I am too skinny now...ha.

I am a visiting nurse, so I eat on the run in the am, a dunkin donuts Breakfast wrap, coffee and a bottle of Water for Breakfast. lunch is a Protein shake an 2 baby bell cheeses, or a piece of summer sausage, or tuna...usually about 3 ounces and 16 ounces of Water with mio. For dinner, I cook all sorts of stuff. Ethnic stuff like rice and Beans, steak or chicken or pork chops, i might cook cheese tortolini, i eat out and have 1/2 an appetizer, a small slice of pizza. Sounds like the wrong stuff, but the portions are small, calories less, and I do only have a few bites of carbs. I eat much much less volume, but I eat what I want, makes me very happy. I decided not to make myself crazy with measuring. Occasionally I do over do it, but its a reminder what my limits are. I work out 1 1/2 hrs 4-5 times a week. And drink 60 punces of water a day. Always a Protein Shake daily to slow the hair loss. i take vit B12 sublingual and daily chewables.< /p>

. Everyone does it differently. Some are more , let's say diligent, with measuring grams of Protein and and milliliters of water, and scream if you say you eat rice or Pasta, and then there are those like me, who don't come on the boards as much anymore, who continue to enjoy foods, within limits, As long as I lose weight, even slowly, when I reach 160, I will be happy. I don't eat m and ms any more, no icecream or soda. I don't eat processed stuff and try to say in the healthy zone. that alone has made a huge impact in my life. Good luck on your journey.

There is no good reason to eat a mechanically processed fake food. I do not eat foods with words I cannot pronounce on the labels.

Eat real foods. Real fat. Real sugar. Real, good quality grains and carbs.

It helps with satiety and it helps you avoid that deprived feeling that leads to binges and grazing.

You aren't exactly eating a portion so large that it's going to hurt you, and in my opinion, if I'm only eating a few bites of something I want them to be wonderful.

The idea that certain food groups are "bad" and to be avoided is a dieting mindset reinforced by years of trying (unsuccessfully, I might add) to lose weight.

Ditch that idea the same way you ditched 85% of your stomach.

You'll feel better and your body will thank you.

Do u follow any plan... Veg, low carb, etc.... The thought of full fat Natural organic, REAL food is so appealing to me...... But I've never ate that way and I'm kinda confused... U seem to have a wealth of knowledge about it! I'm only familiar w starve then binge mode -- pre sleeve- sleeved the 25th of feb-- and Atkins which I preferred--- other stuff I'm pretty clueless about

Thanks

I agree with Fyre.

I don't do fat free cheese or fat free dressings. The little I can have better include all the flavor! Hasn't affected my weight loss, I've lost a good amount.

Just factor it in calorie/carb wise and you should be okay

Thanks everyone. So glad to hear others also want REAL food! I am very much on board with eating delicious stuff bc we can only have a little. I just got so tired of reading recipes and posts with ff products!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
