crackers

Recommended Posts

Hello there

I just started soft foods and I can have crackers. Any recommendations? I almost bought WASA but they looked dry and like cardboard.

Has anyone on solid food tried Triscuits?

Yup. I had them when I was sick a couple weeks ago. I couldn't keep anything down but crackers and Soup. Was a high carb week but better than starving.

I third the wheat thins. They are tasty and whole grain. Only downside is that they are small. I have 4 of them with an ounce of pepper jack cheese- one of my favorite post-op snacks!

Ok devils advocate here..., I remember that stage and well no crackers are really "good"for you..

But trust me I ate them because I was allowed:)

Saltine crackers

So the saltine low sodium wheat crackers were good and they break up "melt" better when you eat them...

Just a thought, come get me if you must :P

The first crackers I ate were saltines. We were allowed them pretty early on my program. Just one or two with meals. Next, I ate wheat thins and Special K wholegrain crackers. I try to only eat whole grain crackers because they fill me up better and the whole grain is good for me. I do eat triscuts occasionally, but I don't keep them in the house because I like them too much.

For me, I try to keep Snacks I enjoy, but not too much or they are too hard to resist. I've managed to find quite a few that fit the bill and have quite a list of foods that only get to visit my house occasionally.

So lets change the topic a bit ~ what whole grains do you eat to make sure you are getting enough Fiber?

I don't really eat many grains so fiber can and is an issue for a lot of us...

Veggies!! Broccoli, cauliflower etc.

I can eat 8 wheat thins and I often do that with spreadable cheese (kalualka?) but I can eat so little it does not matter :( or is that a :)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
