So.....I am 7 months out post op, and I am doing pretty good in my losses, Im about half way to my goal weight.. but over the last few months, I have been experiencing horrible pain in my hips and knees. Like in the joint areas, my bloodwork all looks good, and my doctor has no idea why im experiencing this situation. She thinks it is probably arthritis, but I dont understand why it wasnt a problem 100 pounds ago! Not to mention, she doesnt think she can really prescribe me anything due to the whole NSAIDS issue. Have any of you experienced this issue, and if so, what remedies have you taken? Thanks!!!!

Try a hot bath with Epsom salts to help relieve the joint pain. Heating pads may help relieve the pain in areas as well. I would also f/u with an orthopedic surgeon to be evaluted.

I started taking high doses of D3 (along with my regular calcium) and my bone and muscle aches are SO much better.

Try to find some lotion called Two Old Goats. It's made for arthuritis and fibromyalgia. You can google it and find it near you. I love it.

My dr has allowed nsaids six months which has really helped with back and foot inflammation ( from a previous surgery). Aleve seems to help the most, but I also do diclofenac. Hoping this is not going to bite me later on. I always take an extra prilosec when ever I take nsaid for protection, just in case it is needed.

My dr explained it as skeletal remodeling, the short of it is ,as weight comes off gravity pulls at us differently causing new muscles to engage to do common activities, for me standing straight up was hurting a lot ,after losing a lot of weight I thought my back would feel better right away, but it took some time and exercise.check Duexis ibuprofen coated with Pepcid, a sleevers dream med. Hope you feel better!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
