I'm still pre-op, I was wondering if and when we can eat pork after the sleeve is done? I haven't heard anyone say anything about pork. I love baked pork chops and ham steak.

There are a lot of variables as to "when" you can eat something. I am sure that your Dr. and nutritionist has laid out a schedule for you as you progress through your recovery. meats are tricky with the sleeve. The denser and drier the meat the more issues that you could have. If you toss it in a blender and chop it up fine with a little liquid, you may not have much of a problem when you get to that stage. Right now, I don't have problems with chicken, or pork, but am not digging the red meats. They just don't go down right for some reason. Also if you do try it and it doesn't sit well, you might want to try again later down the road. The key is to go slow, make sure the meat is super moist (like cut it with fork moist) use small bites and chew it, for all its worth.

You should be fine eating pork, but reintroducing any food after the surgery is trial and error. Sometimes it takes a while for your stomach to adjust.

I could eat pork, beef and chicken around week 4.. small, moist pieces. Nothing dry or crusty or tough. I tried tilapia but the smell of it was too much for me. I might try salmon but I'm very sensitive to scents and its like I can taste the smell. BLECH.

Beef and pork go down the best for me but like others said, trial and error. Your stomach is individual to you.

Try baking a pork tenderloin in chicken broth, I'll bake these for my kids and they cut it with a fork :)

I love pork! I started eating it almost at week 4. Couldn't eat too much of it though.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
