Honest answer? he will reschedule and hopefully you will not eat when you are told not to.

The 24 hours before surgery aren't just cheating on a diet. They're about your body being prepared for a major surgical procedure. Be honest about what you've done because it could be a danger to your life and then you just have to do what the surgeon says.

Hi, I am one week today from having surgery, I started at 234, lost about 10 pounds before going in, and got weighed today and I'm 212.5! I want to get to 150. I'm a little uncomfortable, and sick of the shakes already, and all the liquid. I find that popsicles and greek yogurt bars help. Need to get my energy back , but I know in time it will come back. ;) good luck to all!

Try something other than liquids. I'm one week out today I eat cottage cheese and grits. Soups with soft veggies in it. I've had eggs also but my stomach seems to tolerate many things that I'm suppose to be waiting 2 or 3 more weeks to be eating

Not waiting is not a matter of if you stomach will like them...it's that they may cause damage. Stick to your doctors orders. You don't want complications from advancing too quickly.

Well my surgery was successful and I'm two day post op. still in hospital til morning due to all the scar tissue he had to cut away at. My dr has me on clear liquids 33cc three times am hour. Pain is minimal no gas issues at all. Walking all the time. This is my Thanksgiving day. Can't wait to see what I'll look like next year this time. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I am 6 days post-op. Surgery was last Friday (11/16). Recovery was great! I am so blessed to have had the nurses to care for me that I did, and to have the health I have that I have been able to be as paid free as I have been. While in the hospital, I made a conscious effort to use the morphine as little as possible and listen to my body as much as possible before hitting the button. They gave me a prescription for Vicadin to fill for home use. I've only taken 4 of the 40 prescribed, and the last one I took was Sunday night to help me sleep. The main reason I took those was for the stitch pain of my incision on the top part of my bellybutton.

Each day (as many say on here) has only gotten better. Today's success is I can stand and straighten up without a tightness in my abdomen. I got out and walked 2 miles this morning with no issues. I have been released back to work on 12/3 so I can use next week to get my stamina back prior to returning to work and running around the office as I did pre-op.

Yesterday I was released for Stage 2 diet for a month, and then to start Stage 3 at that time. The dietician said I could start to introduce small amounts of Protein such as chicken and turkey to see how they are tolerated, but for the most part, stay with smooth or liquid foods, no fruit and no breads, rice, crackers, etc.

All in all, I believe I have been very blessed with my recovery and am very thankful for that. I wish everyone else the same success!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
