I am due to have my surgery on Tuesday 10/17 but am running late with my mentral cycle. Will I still be able to have the surgery or do they make you postpone it. I'm not sure. I don't remember hearing anything about it but didn't want to sound like an idiot when i called the surgeon. HELP:help:

I know my surgeon does a pregnancy test the day of surgery, but what he'd do if you WERE pregnant I do not know. I would think that the risks of anesthesia drugs to a newly developing fetus might be greater than what he'd prefer to take and therefore would want to postpone your surgery.

However, if you're just "running late" due to nerves and such I wouldn't think twice about it.

They are use to this when dealing with women!! Don't worry. They only thing you need to worry about is not to wear a tampon. They will give you special underwear to wear & a big ol' grandma pad. :D You'll be fine.

I got mine the day after. It was such a bummer because my first day is always really hard. Honestly, I don't know if I felt worse from the surgery or the cramps. But when that went away, I felt like I was a million times better. My doctor never even mentioned it, so I doubt it's a big issue.

They had me take a pregnancy test because I was late, even though I was 100% sure I could not be pregnant. It ended up coming 3 days before surgery, so I got to wear a pair of those sexy mesh panties. I was embarassed a bit until I told my nurse who said I was the 4th woman that day, so I think it's something they are completely used to. I just felt bad for the person who had to put in my cathedar. Eeewww...

When I went in for my pre-surg testing I had blood work done. I asked what are they testing for and one of the items was a pregnancy test. So I think you are covered. But about my menstrual cycle. I am late because of nerves and I hope I don't get it before surgery. I am stressing over that. Also having it soon after surgery and having soreness just to take care of it.

I am so happy for this thread! I was worried about this issue too. I am due to have surgery on 11/2 and I always start right around the first! I feel better thanks!

I wasn't even asked about my cycle. And at the rate things are going for me now, I couldn't predict the next one anyway. They've been very erratic for the last several months.

I had mine during surgery and someone advised me not to wear a tampon because it might be difficult to reach to remove it after surgery. I'm glad I had that advice because it would have been. They gave me a pad and mesh underwear and it was fine. Believe me, they see blood all day, every day; a little more won't have any impact.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
