lol yes I meant Laproscopically..... I was just being lazy :-) I'm hoping not to go the long open incision route if at all possible.

Ah, yes ... good. If they put you on a pre-op diet, be diligent with it. If the surgeon gets in there and finds your liver larger than they are comfortable with operating around, they will either abort or do an open surgery.

Second day at work since my surgery on Wednesday. I felt great after work yesterday. I even had lots of extra energy. Today I feel even better, though still a tad sore. I just needed 5 days. I've seen others that took weeks. I'm not sure if that has to do with the surgeon and his particular technique in the operating room or what. I do know that my doctor performs a lot of vsgs and he says that there are no restrictions after surgery and for his patients to get back to life and work immediately.

That doesn't sound possible for some of the others whose recovery stories are different. I really do wonder what types of things make for such a big difference in recovery times.

I am an RN and work 12 hour shifts - on my feet, up and down the hall, lifting/turning pts etc. My surgeon took me off work for six weeks because he didn't want me lifting anything over 20 pounds. I've enjoyed the time off, but I could have gone back a little sooner. Four weeks would have probably been enough. I was sleeved on August 22 and my six weeks is up tomorrow.

My doc said she likes four weeks- 2 for recovery (which I did need) and to acclimate to foods. I am grateful for the four and I'll be very ready to go back next week.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
