It took me several weeks to start sleeping normally again. The first two weeks post-op, I hardly slept at all. So while it may be frustrating, take heart in the fact that it is pretty common. It won't last forever. I hope you're sleeping soundly again soon!!

I was like that for a while. Didn't last too long. What was strange is that I could not for the life of me read for a month after the surger - which is not like me at all! But that passed to. The surgery was and is so worth it!!!!

I, too, am having trouble sleeping. In the hospital, I barely slept, but I attributed that to the nurses coming in constantly to take vital signs and give me more medicine. Last night was my first night at home and I went to bed at 10:30, woke up at 12:30, 3 to use restroom and then up for a good at 5:30 this am. My entire body is aching and I guess going longer than 4 hours without my pain mess really did me in. I'm hoping this doesn't last too much longer. I plan on taking a few naps today. The doctor told me for the next week, I should be focused on getting 64 ounces of Fluid and at least 60 grams of Protein and walking. Those will be my goals.

I'm glad you wrote this thread, as I was about to write one myself!

Check with your surgeon and see if it's ok for you to take chewable melatonin. It's been a lifesaver for me!!

Same here. It was so confusing to see posts about people who were so fatigued when I felt like I had insomnia for the first time in my life. I couldn't sleep for more than 4 hrs a night and would take a daily afternoon nap for the first few days. My sleeping was very impaired. The good news is it normalized after a couple weeks, but as the weight comes off, my energy level increases so I'm not as tired.

Good luck with your recovery!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
