The reason post surgery it is generally I inadvisable to drink is because alcohol thins the blood which can have a damaging effect on internal stitches and staples which take up to six weeks to heal.

After this, there is no risks in drinking alcohol beyond what risks alcohol generally poses to everyone.

My surgeon and my NUT recommended the occasional red wine as part of a normal and healthy diet. I have enjoyed an occasional wine since I was six weeks out. I continue to lose weight.

A glass of red wine takes 8 minutes moderate jogging to burn off.

I am pre-op, but LOVE Grey Goose mixed with SoBe 0 calorie lifewaters. There are a ton of different flavors. My favorites are yumberry pomegranate & black and blueberry. They have Vitamins and your hydrating at the same time as getting a buzz on, lol! It's a win, win! :)

No food bothers me and since I already tried it same with alcohol. I sort of wish it did. Now I couldn't drink it down like I normally would but still burn free.

I just want to say for the record to anyone who will listen that I, at age 37, had TOTALLY OVER did it back in June. (I'm still pre sleeve). I swear I haven't been that sick since high school. I swore off drinking alcohol. It was over a month later when I tried again. Mainly to tell my brain that I'm overreacting. I wasnt.

Lesson: pre sleevers go on a big bender and develop an aversion. Worked for me ;)

:) :) :)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
