What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

I just got my first fill this morning and was expecting great things since I had waited 7 weeks since the surgery. I can feel NO difference whatsoever. I am not really willing to wait two months for another fill. I want to start losing weight. At this point I am only down 9 lbs total because about 3 weeks ago I began to gain weight back. I have gained about 5 lbs back.

I need advice. Is it appropriate for me to call my doctor back this quickly, or should I wait a while before I tell him that I am experiencing no restriction? I really feel like I need to get this show on the road. I hate to be sitting here with a perfectly good tool (the lap band), but not have it doing what it was put there to do. I need insight. And I want to start really losing some weight.

Thanks in advance.

By the way, I got 1 cc in my 4 cc band.

Give it a few days. Of the five fills I have had in fifteen months, I do remember it was a day or even two before I noticed difference. Odd I know, but that was my experience.

15 months post op

200 pounds lost, at goal....Life is good!

That makes me feel better. I will give it several days. I know it sounds a bit dramatic, but I was feeling fearful because for me, it feels like this lap band is my last real hope for losing this excess weight and getting a shot at regaining my health.

Thank you so much for your response.

14 months out, I have lost 72 pounds and I am at 3.50cc currently wearing size 12 and they are lo0se. Once I lose another 8 pounds I am going to get an unfill maybe 2.5 or 2.0, so I can just excercise harder and tone better.

I am just over 6 months out, I was banded in April of this year. I waited 8 weeks for my first fill of 1.25cc, and received mild restriction with it. It mainly taught me to really eat like a bandster...small bites lots of chewing, but it didn't do much to limit my intake. 5 weeks later, the end of July I had another fill of .50cc, bringing me to a total of 1.75cc. Then I got restriction! I now eat much smaller amounts, I have lost pretty steady, not had any issues with being too tight. I feel at least for the here & now, I have my sweet spot! It has been over 3 months, and I have no desire to change how my restriction feels.

I am amazed at how different not only we are, but how the Dr.'s approach the fills!

I was banded in 9/2005 and I have 3.4cc in a 4cc. This is definitely my sweet spot, most likely won't need a fill in a long time.:clap2:

I am 14 weeks out and have had 3 fills in my 4cc band.

first fill 1.25

second fill .5

3rd fill .5.

not a whole lot of restriction. getting frustrated that I am still white knuckle dieting. We'll see I guess.

This is what is driving me kinda crazy. I would like for my doc to be a little more participatory in helping me find my "sweet spot" earlier on. I know that the reason I am feeling this way is that I know I have the band, and I don't want to go 2 - 3 months not getting the full help of the band.

But I decided on the other hand that I would be a bit more proactive in telling him that I am getting not enough restriction.

A friend of mine has a doctor who has her hang around and eat and drink a little to "test out" the restriction of the band. If it's not enough he adds a tad more right then on the same day. In other words, he tries to get it as good as he can before the patient leaves.

My first fill was 1 cc on 10/31/06. I called my doctor's office and I will get a second fill on 11/14/06. I almost hope he puts in another 1cc, but I will discuss it with him, ask some questions and then leave it to his expertise.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
