Scaled Hasnt Moved In One Week! Three Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on July 18th and the scale hasn't moved since the two week mark. I am getting frustrated! The only thing I can think of is that I haven't been getting enough Protein since I hate the Protein Shakes and can now only start to incorporate real food into my diet. Experienced sleeevers - help?

Stalls are normal around 3-four weeks post op. They can last a little while and then suddenly the scale will start moving again. In the meantime, you will probably notice your clothes getting looser despite the scale not moving. It's your body readjusting to the weight loss. My NUT did tell me to increase my Protein if this happens, but the main thing is to realize that it is temporary and you will keep losing weight. Just be patient and stay on the plan.

As for the Protein shakes, did you hate them before your surgery also? I found that my favorite shakes became repulsive to me post surgery. However, as time progressed, I have started to like them again. Unfortunately, it will be very difficult to get all your protein in without some sort of supplement for a while, because even though you can start eating real food your stomach holds so litte.

I bought liquid Vitamins and Muscle Milk powder. I also bought flavorless Protein Powder for my Soup or whatever. Really helps with the Protein requirement.

The only flavorless protein I found was Beneprotein and it was 14 something shipped for a small container.. :(

And its very VERY minimal in protein. like 3-4g per serving. ugh.

I'm taking Vitamins so that helps. We have the Protein Powder, 3 different flavours - my dad had gastric bypass done last December so there is no lack of options! I just find it gross no matter what I mix it with.

Have you ever tried Carb Watchers Lean Body Meal Replacement shakes? They come in chocolate Ice Cream, vanilla Ice Cream and strawberry Ice Cream flavors. They are really, really yummy and have 40 grams of Protein and only 1 gram of sugar. I'm not sleeved yet (unfortunately) so I may end up hating them after my surgery ....who knows. Best wishes to you.

Maybe try changing things a up a bit. Excercise more, eat less/more, add more protein/water, shake things up a bit and that might be what's needed to make things move again. If not, just hold on because the scale will take off again,,just be patient. Measure yourself during this time to not get frustrated, most likely you'll see a shrinking waist, hips, etc.

Three week stall is normal. Search on the forum under stall and you will find a zillion posts on it. Your body is readjusting to the weight loss and to your new calorie intake, it's spent three weeks being just constantly confused and now it's rearranging stuff. It probably is retaining Water. It probably is pulling inches off your body - have you measured? Just because you do not see scale movement doesn't mean your body is not still losing or on track. Stick with it, the stall will end, even if it takes a few weeks.

Just make sure you're still keeping yourself hydrated and keeping your Protein up. Stalls do not last forever =) Hang in there.

I was in a stall for one month exactly! I'm only two months out now so it was more than frustrating. It was scary. I've been averaging a half pound a day since then so just stick to your diet.

I am having the same problem. I was sleeved 7/13 and the scale has not moved since last week. Well, actually it has moved up and down a couple of pounds. I know I am not getting in all of my Protein but I am trying my darnedest. (Is that how one would spell that?) Anyway, I am managing to get in at least 40 because I can almost finish an Isopure drink and I can eat about two four ounce greek yogurts throughout the day.

The problem is that the Isopure makes me so thirsty that I also sip a lot of Water and it is just sooooo much sipping.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
