At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?

Recommended Posts

For me it was when years and years of trying and trying I was in a loop where all I did was beat myself up over being fat and people started making jokes about how much I ate etc, that really shocked me. Also not being able to fit into my own mothers clothes that she was giving away to me, which were really nice!, true... and too that I couldnt enjoy anything with out being self conscious about my weight... lots of things but mostly the decade of trying to try was enough for me.

My gynaecologist sat me down at my heaviest and discussed the genetic predisposition to cancer in the women in my family and how it is most likely related to obesity. I had just had a cone biopsy due to precancerous cervical cells. She showed me a weight chart she had done over the last few years tracking my upwardly yo-yo-ing weight and voiced her concerns in no uncertain terms. It scared the wits out of me and I started researching WLS around that time. It was one of the most awkward discussions I've ever had, but I'm so glad she confronted me.

I've always be ashamed of myself from since i can remember. . . always trying diets' date=' pills, etc anything to lose weight. I hated myself for ever and never was happy. But i went on like this for years and years until finally 3 years ago 47 years old I could afford to get this done and i did. . . now i've lost 150 lbs, have tons of self confidence, enjoy life and finally finally love myself for the person who i am. . . I got to my doctors goal for me, but not my own personal one, but I'm definately not a failure . . .I AM PURE SUCCESS![/quote']

Awesome to hear!!!

234 I am 5'2 @ 234 I was 14 pounds heavier than when I was full term pregnant with my last child. It wasn't because I had a baby and never lost the weight either I got down to 182 when he was 6 months old but through crazy yo yo dieting I had somehow managed to gain it all back and then some.Everything hurt my ankles would kill in the morning when I had to walk down my stairs and my back always hurts. My husband deployed and while he was gone I lost 22 pounds he came back in June and 8 pounds has crept back up on me I had already started the process to get WLS so I am going forward full steam. I have sleep apnea (use a cpap)and high blood pressure that I haven't been put on meds for yet and I hope I don't have to before I get my sleeve.I am 32 years young and want my body to feel that way no more creaking and cracking when I walk around.

My time came when my hemoglobin A1c came back as prediabetic. I'm not sure why I felt high blood pressure and high cholesterol were ok....probably because two pills could "fix" it. I was sitting with my 11 y/o daughter and it hit me that if I didn't do something right then, I would not be around to Celebrate all those precious milestones...first date, first prom, high school graduation, marriage, grandchildren..the list was endless in my mind. The worst thought was that if I died, some other woman could potentially be raising my daughter. That broke my heart. So on July 15, 2011, I started my weight loss journey and was approved for my sleeve and had that done on April 3, 2012. Never once did I give up..now I don't have those thoughts..I actually can dream now..

For me it was less about the number and more about how things suddenly started getting really hard to do. I was having trouble tying my shoes, bending down to pick up dropped items, and even..uh..having trouble wiping myself thoroughly. lol. TMI, I know, but that was the big one. That was when I knew I had to make a serious change asap!

Same thing here. Plus diabetes is getting out of control. Have to sleep with a CPAP. Not sure who's life I'm living, but I want MY life back! 1 month into the 6 month insurance requirement.

When my Weight Watchers leader told me the program wasn't working for me and I needed to try something else. I had already tried Nutrisystem' date=' Adipex, Phen Phen, Atkins, south beach, cabbage Soup, slim fast meals, and the blood type diet. I needed something REALLY different. I found it![/quote']

Wow, I had a similar experience with my Jenny Craig lady! This surgery really is the only answer.

Mine isn't about my max weight. I weigh 220. My max was 226. But I'm 5'5" and have sleep apnea, celiac disease, osteopenia, asthma, fibromyalgia, hypoglycemia, GERD, the list gets longer. I'm tired of being 41 but getting on worse than most 60 year olds. I've tried every diet and go to the gym. I went every day for 60 days and lost how much... Oh ZERO pounds!!! Zero and I was killing myself. My doc swears that no matter what meds I'm on I WILL lose weight. God I hope so. I'd love to be able to chase my grandchildren in the yard without passing out or having an asthma attack.

I should also mention that my last "child" was a set of twins almost 21yrs ago and the day I came home from having them I weighed 128 lbs. (my max pregnancy weight was 152!) It gets more depressing every time someone tells me, "well, your a little overweight but you've had 4 children. That does a lot to your body." :(

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
