I am so nauseated and there seems to be no end in sight.. I have barely been able to take anything in. Oral meds make me feel sick. I still in the hospital. What has worked for others?

Have you been given your anti naseau medicine? I had to keep asking for it. It helped me a lot. Let your nurses know your naseaus, they should give you something.

Hope you feel better soon!

Kudos to Baylor Trophy Club. I was a bit nauseated the morning after surgery, and had my nausea medicine within five minutes!

Second day is the worst day. Did you have to go for upper gi test this morning? Did they make you drink the gastrique?

I woke up nauseated then they sent me for the leak test. They gave me three different medications plus I had the patch behind my ear.

If you have a good chair in your hospital room, try sitting in that, with a cold rag on your forehead and a cold damp rag on your neck. sleep as much as you can. If you can ask for someone to pick you up some decaff peppermint tea and whatever artificial sweetener you like, have them bring that to you, if there is a store close by. Bigelow Peppermint Tea with Truvia was my go to of choice. It calmed my belly and I was able to get some liquids in.

Please know that every single day will be better than the day before. 2nd day is always the worst. By tomorrow your nausea will be a little better. Walk when you can, sip when you can, but for today rest.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry. I'm not sure what to suggest. I did read on here that warm tea helped soothe peoples tummies. Is that an option? The smell of peppermint always helps me, could someone get you a sugar free peppermint? Just don't swallow it. Also clear that with your drs. first.

Pain medicine can keep you naseaus. I really hope you find some relief!

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much nausea =( I had quite a bit while I was in the hospital too. They alternated between meds because sometimes it seemed like one worked and sometimes it seemed like another worked. Maybe some of the nausea is from gas? Have you had many chances to get up and walk around, sometimes that can help get rid of gas. Or some gas x strips if your doctor says it's okay? I know that I was tired a lot getting up, but once I'd gotten a few laps in I'd feel a bit better.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I am getting a little better each day, and I hope to go home today. My doctor is pretty much just saying walk walk walk!

Hi all, I'm new to this but was sleeved on Thursday. Went home yesterday and feeling very down. Before my surgery, my motivations for having it were so clear to me and now my mind just feels fuzzy! I have a young son and am feeli g guilty about not being able to pick him up for a month even though I have support from husband/family. Struggling with Water too and asking myself what on earth I have done? Sorry I know all that sounds silly.

hi katie

I understand how you feel but you made a life saving and life changing decision so you will now live a full life with your precious lil one. It is hard in the beginning to keep things in perspective; we all struggled in the beginning but its a temporary time given for a lifetime of joy. You can do this... remind yourself the reasons you did this. I buried a friend at 41 from a heart attack and she had two children. Saddest thing in the world to experience children saying goodbye to their mother while they are still children.

Be proud of yourself..you are strong...get through this temporary period and prepare for happiness to come.

Drink your Water, walk and follow your doctors instructions as you heal. If you still are feeling like this give your Dr a call ... they know what your going through and will help you.

and we are here for you as well

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
