Infections?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if anybody that went to Mexico for their VSG has had any problems with infection? If so, what kind and where? Is this even tracked by the surgeon since so many people come from the US/Canada? I am still trying to determine my surgeon and this is probably the biggest factor in my decision. Thanks in advance for any input!

I'm scheduled to be sleeved Sept.8 with Dr. Rodriquez who has great reviews, but I'm really nervous about post-op follow-up. I live in Ohio. How do others handle this? Just go to your usual MD for labs; not neessary? Will they talk to me about this when I have my surgery?

Zero infection for me and my wounds are pretty much 100% healed) the biggest still has a scab). I was sleeved 08/18/12 by Dr Kelly in Mexico.

I'm having my sleeve done by Dr. Lopez on 9-21. I will let you know how my surgery goes.

Hi Susan..I live in Ohio too!

I have asked my PCP if he will do my follow up after surgery, and he agreed. He seemed to already know what bloodwork I would need and such....

How did your surgery go??? Hope you are doing well! :)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
