Sex after the Band

Recommended Posts

I know this is a personal question, but I don't feel comfortable asking my doctor. How long after surgery should you wait to resume normal sexual relations? Is there anything to consider - do you need to be careful, etc? What about the oral sex - is that still okay even though the throat may be a little tender from PBing? Any input would be great - Thanks!

The band are usually an un-washed bunch of longhaired hippes types who carry diseases and infections with them. I would not sleep with anyone who slept with the band for fearing of catching whatever you got from them.

Oh....wait....you mean lapband.

I didn't wait (i'm a guy), and I had no problems. The same of course goes for oral, but again a. I'm a guy, b. I never PB'd.

I think they are purely based on personal comfort. I don't think it's healthy to strain those stitches, but I'm sure if you are careful you will be fine.

I had the surgery on the 6th, I think the first attempt to convince my wife to have sex was about an hour after I woke up. The catheter ruined that conversation. I think she finally gave in on the 7th.

There's a catheter involved - for both men and women? yikes!!! how much does it hurt? Do they put it in after you are asleep?

I don't know about the ladies, but when I was a asleep the sneaks put one in. However I was lucky enough to be wide awake when they removed it.

I did not have a catheter (or if I did it was in and out while I was knocked out) but I really don't think I had one. You can have sex as soon as you want, but I wouldn't be trying any crazy positions until you're healed enough. Of course, after you start losing weight, you will not be able to keep your man off of you!!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
