Connecticut Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am from wallingford. I had my sleeve done by Dr. Benbrahim in Meriden on feb 19. Down 35 lbs. My nutrionist says I am a slow loser. I thought it was pretty good. Ha. Feeling good with no regrets or complications. Nice to see people from CT!

Hello fellow CT Yankees! I live in Madison. Had my surgery with Dr. Craig Floch at Norwalk Hospital. Best experience! The staff was amazing and the Drs attentive.

I am 6 months post op and have reached my goal. Lost 82 pounds. Down to 160 pounds.

Done Did It!

I'm from Guilford and also going with the Floch practice -- though using the new surgeon, Fridman. Having surgery at St. Vincent's in Bridgeport in May.

Good morning! Wow, June 18 will be here before you know it! I have my last NUT appointment July 1st........then I meet with Dr. Floch and submit paperwork to the insurance..Did it take a long time to get a surgery date after being approved by your ins.?

Have you done the mandatory pre-op session at the hospital? been to any of the support groups? The LSW suggested I attend one before the surgery. Best of luck!

I'm also in Guilford and would be very happy to meet with you and go over everything. Just email me at urbanlegends@comcast.net and I'll email you my cell. Several of us here in Guilford are waiting and one has already had surgery. We can have our own support group.

The slippery slope

That is where I am right now 1.5 years out from surgery, down 90 pounds - well sometimes 90 sometimes 85. The miracle of the sleeve has done what it was supposed to do - it helped me to cut down on food intake, I choose food differently and never looked back.

Well now the newness has worn off - I eat a little of this and a little of that - test the waters on what I can and can't stand. For the most part I can eat everything I want; except for meat, salad and sausage. Do not eat anywhere near the amount of food I did two years ago, nor do I eat the amount I ate a year ago - which was very little.

I cheat - I don't want to but I have become bored with food again, my life is hectic so it is easier to eat out, I still never finish a full meal, always have a "to go" bag, but now it is a little eating more, a few fries off someone else plate, a lick of real ice cream.

....and drinking well at first I became one drink wonder, now I can pretty much keep up with the pack on a couple of vodkas without a problem, even tried a coors lite beer (which was not good). Drinking leads to eating and well we all know the drill.

I gained four pounds over the weekend of Memorial Day, I am not happy about it - this week I have tried to cut back the amounts of food again - push myself away from the table again. I must learn to love my sleeve enough not to stretch it, I must love myself enough not to travel down the slope.

I lived that life a while ago and didn't like it one bit - so I will try to go up the slope to the top where I feel my best.

Thanks for hearing me out old friends......

I live in CT too. I have not been scheduled for my sleeve yet, but I have finished all of the prelims. I too have Dr. Gedeon and like him very much. Bristol Hospital is supposed to have one of the best weight loss surgery programs in the state. I hope to be sleeved by the end of August. This waiting is for the birds!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
