Probably about the same time you could/should have a french fry...lol. Just kidding.

If it blends up in a mixer its a mushy.

That's a good question. My doctor told me to wait until 6 months out. But I know it's sooner. I live in Korea and rice is a daily staple. 3 times a day so I guess that's why he told me 6 months. I really love rice and I feel like I need it 3 times a day. lol

Rice is one of the grains that I don't seem to tolerate very well (and I'm almost 8 months out). I can usually eat a little Pasta, sometimes a little bread . . . but rice just doesn't sit well. I don't miss it, though.

That would be bad news for me if I could not tolerate rice, I am Colombian and that is my staple food!

To me, white rice is empty calories. I do miss it when eating Thai food though. I've switched over to Quinoa which is much more nutritional and very high in Protein. It takes on the taste of what you are cooking.

It's on my you can eat it if you can tolerate it list from my doctor, but they don't recommend it.

I'm from Lousianna and rice is a staple item, no meal is complete without rice. But my Dr and nut said rice is several months down the line. I will wait till I can have it and then make it for special occasions.

I meet with some friends today who are from LA also, she had her surgery a couple of months ago and today she ate a little gumbo with rice and had no problems. I think it depends on how well you tolerate it. Keep in mind rice is very filling and has no Proteins (unless enriched) so if. You eat too much you will not be able to eat meats or other Protein full stuff. Good luck!

Rice, bread and most Pasta make me feel overfull very quickly. Worse, they absorb Water when I start drinking again 30 minutes after my meal and make me uncomfortable. I don't do much of any of the three.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
