Gettinmeback - thanks. I usually stay between 600-800 cal. I noticed that most NUTS recommend more calories at least 1000. I'm not sure I'd loose as well doing that. I try and do a few regular calorie days and then up them about two days to shake things up. I was just wondering what works for everyone.

Newgirlie

So glad to read your post. I'm 3 months out and have seen a few stalls. I know it's normal but since surgery I've lost 42 pounds. I think it's a little slow and my Doctor said its a little less than expected but he always just says you were a smaller Bariatric patient (surgery date 215) your weight may be slower.

I'm so glad to read that there is hope that this weight will still drop. My highest weight was 241 January of this year.

I was 218 day of surgery and 2 months out am down only 28 lbs. I am 5'2 and 32 yrs old so similar loss rate...

Im 5`2 starting weight was 236 I'm 37. I have to do 3 months for insurance. My first appointment was on Dec 17. So I'm hoping to get sleeved the first part of April. The waiting is just about to kill me. I can't wait to get to ``onderland'' I haven't been there in about 6 years. This is one of the first things that i have done for myself in a very long time. Tonight my dad said don't you think you could just go on a diet and lose some weight. I said I'm doing the surgery. He said ok hard head. I just ignored that comment. He said your allergic to everything which is pretty much true. However no one is going to talk me out of this. I'm have my mind made up. I'm a single parent and i need to be health for me and my daughter. This is what i think if your not going to support me then keep your opinion to your self because i don't want to hear it. I'm so excited to be on this journey.

Fellow allergic person here! One thing comes to mind...bet we're not allergic to losing weight and being healthier!

We've all been an a "diet" and lost some weight. I've been struggling for 20 years to get back under 200..been so close more than a few times, only to decide to give myself a "break" from starvation and exercising to the point of injury and then throwing it all to the wind and gaining right back to my starting point. UGH! Time for a novel outlook...and a brand spanking new tool in my toolbox. Not getting any younger, no more time for messin' around...this IS it! WE CAN DO IT!!

I'm 5'1 and 1/2. I had surgery 12 weeks ago. I started at 218, now weigh 181. It is slow but steady, every week the weight comes off. As I have seen on here, slow and steady wins the race. ????

I've been waiting for a forum like this!!!! I've also wondered how the weight loss affects those of shorter stature! I'm 26, 4'11", and weigh 245(ish). I'm really wanting to have my surgery at the end of this year. I have the usual, high BP, PCOS, higher end of normal blood sugar, and SNORING:( Some people don't understand that when you're shorter, the weight makes even more of a difference in your health!

So glad to finally meet some of you who were/are in my same situation!!!!

Oh and I told my parents n there response was you don't need surgery back away from the table diet n exercise n I'm thinkin your opinion really don't matter this is my body n right now I'm doing what's best... I only told 4 people 1 of which is pretty much against it but who cares I'm doing it. She claims when ever she go out she can look at people n tell who had the surgery cause of the sagging skin. I'm only nervous because I told my kids dad I was havin the surgery n he like we'll what if you want to have another kid. N I'm just wonderin if he will really be here to help me thru the recovery process. Oh n now he says I'm startin to snore. I've never snored so now I'm gonna tell the surgeon so Dr Singh at st Agnes hospital can send me to get a sleep study right quick....

Has anyone else noticed the increased snoring with weight gain? I think I may have always been a light snorer (is that even a word?! lol), but it's getting ridiculous now! For those of you who snored before, can you tell a difference after losing weight?!

I've always snored but man it was worse at my heaviest weight which was 241. Day of surgery I weighed in at 215 and today at 167. Today I'm 4 months out and I still snore but nothing like before so it does get better????????

Don't worry about it. A friend asked me "what about all the loose skin". My answer was... Skin won't kill me but being over weight will.

I'm not going to lie. There will be skin but as long as you have your clothes on..... You will look fabulous!!!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
