Is This Considered A Slow Loser?

My surgery date was Oct 17 2011 my weight was 243 im currently 216. I was 214 then 215 im kind of frustrated/confused. I'll admit I have trouble getting in all my liquids because sometimes I find myself in my old habits before having surgery like only drinking because im feeling thirsty. I feel like im never going to see onederland or am I just being impatient lol I dont know please give me any advice you think will help?

You are doing just fine! Don't be so hard on yourself. I was the same way. It takes a while for your body to adjust. Don't forget that it is in shock. Anesthesia alone is tough on the body, let alone coupled with near starvation and attempting to heal. That is where all your energy is going at first. So, just relax and focus on getting the liquids in. The reduction in food intake is inevitable so don't worry about that. See you in onderland!

Hang in there Ren!! I am also struggling with getting in my liquids, but I have gone back to drinking Protein shakes and noticed a little bump in my weight loss. Next week I am going to try (and I repeat TRY) to go back to the basics and adopt the mushies, crystal light, and Protein Shakes. I cant go all the way back to the broths tho...ICK!

Have you been working out? I have JUST started working out...I'm blaming the holidays...but I am doing 1hr on the bike. I dont have enough energy to do any more than that, so we'll see how this works out.

You will be OK Sleeve Sister!

Awww thank you ducker im a bit relieved now I have not been on this board for awhile forgot how supporting everyone is<3 im due for my 3 month checkup & I was just feeling so much pressure because my doctor said oh you should lose another 20 pounds! at that time im thinking I was 224 but im going to do better & definitely stop stressing

hey Kendra yeah I hated the broth lol but atleast the scale was moving! my exercise consists of dance central or kinect sports im avoiding my elliptical I saw you reached onederland though thats wonderful! im going to incorporate more exercise & break up with that stupid scale!

OHHHH Ren, I feel your pain!! I had my surgery on October 14 and I was 258 and I'm 218 now. I lost some weight with my pre-op diet too. I just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere either. I've been trying to keep my carbs down more and more Protein this week, and I was pretty stinking excited when the scale moved 0.2 lbs! I told myself that's better than nothing. I'm getting a gym membership tomorrow too. I guess it was like the first 40 lbs post-op pretty much fell off, and now I have to work for it. If you find out any secrets for this stage, let me know. You are not alone!

small Im realizing to be more patient im at 213 now Im also drinking more liquids trying to change past habits so far I've lost 30 pounds im not sure why my weight loss is slow but my highest weight was 295 a few yrs ago used Phentermine lost most of it stayed at 220 so I guess thats why im soooo ready to stop seeing 200 period lol

REN ---I think you are doing wonderful... remember that its all gonna depend on your BMI and your activity level and your food/liquid intake.

If you get a chance check out DIVAS bootcamp she pinned it to the forum, i think it would really help. She is a wealth of knowledge on here..

Being an athlete the one thing i can say is that if you aren't doing it already get moving at least 30min a day, that will help jump start your weightloss, and slowly move to 1hr a day.

Definitely getting in your fluids will help with that also because what might be happening is that if you aren't drinking enough Water, and you are eating high sodium foods you are retaining a lot of Water because your body needs to keep every drop you put in it. (hope that made sense)

Good luck to you, i think you are doing really well either way, and I know it will get better for you.

I would add that you should look at your average weekly weight loss. You are averaging a loss of 2.25 lbs a week. My surgeon said to expect 2 to 5 lbs per week loss with some weeks being outside the range.

I think that 2.25 lbs per week puts you right on track. The averages are what keep me sane because I seem to be a stair step loser but I average 4.3 lbs a week. Keep in mind thought that I stayed at 212 for three weeks and then doing LilMissDiva's Boot Camp plan took off almost 7 lbs (6.4 lbs but close enough for me) in 4.5 days.

I have been feeling that I am a slow user but I try to think positive and keep exercising...and only weight myself once a week. No preop weightloss..

I too consider myself a slow loser. At surgery I was 303 now 8 weeks later I am 284, less than 20 pounds. My doc also said.. look at the average, its 2.5 a week. She is expecting to see 5 - 10 pounds a month.. So according to her I'm on track.

Gotta remember its a journey not a short visit. This will take time to change habits and learn to love and use our tool correctly. Also don't be so hard on yourslef, you've lost 30 pounds.. something to be proud of. Also as I see it, you've only got 14 pounds to go to get under 200. Live your life. stay determined to reach your goal, but don't be stressed.

Hi my surgery was 10/31/11. Nine weeks after surgery

I lost 23 in 4 weeks,

6 lbs in 3 weeks,

and 4 lbs in 2 weeks.

It did get discouraging the second month because it is coming off slower. The scale is moving weekly but not very fast. I know it took years to put on and in 2 1/2 months I am down 33 lbs so I am still happy.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

      Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
