My food porn for the day....

I DARE YOU to read this blog

http://blogchef.net/

All the way back 2 years ago and every post looks delish!!!!

I started out as a chef with my own place years ago before I gave it up for art, and I know that some of these recipes can be remade to be WLS-compatible. Here's an example:

1 whole Jalapeno, 1 Tablespoon Philadelphia Light Cream cheese, and 1 slice of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon to make 2 poppers:

Calories: 45.7 / Fat: 3.0g / Sugar: 1.0g / Protein: 1.7g

1 whole Jalapeno, 1 wedge of Laughing Cow Light Swiss Original cheese, and 1 slice of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon to make 2 poppers:

Calories: 50.7 / Fat: 2.5g / Sugar: 1.0g / Protein: 2.7g

I don't know about you, but that looks like an acceptable substitution to me! The cream cheese didn't sound that great so I wanted to look at the Laughing Cow wedges, since they've got great flavor and have the same consistency. They up the Protein quotient, too. I've halved the bacon because turkey doesn't shrink as much as regular, so you don't need as much. I've made something similar with turkey bacon, so this works.

For the twice-baked potatoes, I make these on a regular basis and freeze them to bake when we have steak. I've always scooped the insides out first and baked the shells separately to make them crisper, boiling the insides then using fat-free sour cream to mash them, but the new way I plan to make them is like this:

  1. Separate the insides and shells as mentioned above, baking the shells as you would baked potatoes until they're browned and crisp.
  2. Boil the insides until tender, then drain.
  3. Mash the insides with Greek-style yogurt, Butter Buds, and fresh herbs like chopped parsley and chives
  4. Mix in some cooked, crumbled turkey bacon
  5. Season with smoked salt to taste; this should enhance the flavor of the bacon significantly
  6. Stir in some cottage cheese or low-fat ricotta for added bulk and protein
  7. Mix in some shredded cheese
  8. Fill the shells
  9. Bake at 350F until it's browned and looks done, about 20 minutes.

You may have extra filling, so throw it in the 'fridge and, when you're ready to make some mixed vegetables or something similar, just crumble this over the top and pop it in the oven until everything is brown and bubbly.

Ok....I had to resurrect this post. It's funny, and delicious and sensual, and all the above. I got to have a few bites of my old favorite today, and a few bites was more than enough. Carrot cake. It was sooo moist....OH BABY!!!

That is my cryptonite! Carrot cake from the cheese cake factory. The cake is so big and even pre sleeve it took me 2-3 days to finish it. I went to Mrs. Fields Cookies yesterday with my sister and literally had to run from the store. They had a cheesecake brownie! I could so see myself and that brownie being BFF's.

Is it weird to have a love affair with fresh cherries? I always have my lean Protein and veggies first, but I can have 8-10 of these beautiful little fruits and just be in heaven. I'm glad we only have them when they're in season. I'd post a picture, but I'd have to eat more if I got them out to take one.

Haha hey giys, Glad its still going. Im now 7 months out from surgery and can officially eat anything I posted above^... although I make better choices and the quantities are very limited BUT I can if I so desire. PHEW that was my fear because I wasnt sure I could get past saying goodbye to theater popcorn for good..:-)

I've eaten a lot of these foods. Wings are on my menu at least twice a month. I can only eat two whole wings (drummet plus the tip) so big wow right? -- unless it makes me drink beer that is ;-)

A lot of the other stuff I do minus the bread and tortillas. I substitute plain Greek yogurt for sour cream or mix it with avocado. Today I'm having Italian turkey, a salami called Alpino which is ground Prosciutto basically, light string cheese, raw broccoli and a Greek yogurt/mustard dip.

Fat does not stop my weight loss. I eat about 25+ grams a day. Carbs stop my weight loss.

Speaking of edible food porn, I have this recipe for a cheesy egg zucchini casserole. MMMMMMMMM, I forgot that I can have that.

Ive had alot of the foods mentioned,,I love me some pizza so I eat all the toppings and sauce and leave the crust for my son.lol I shared a piece of key lime pie the other day..I debated..4 oz of yogurt or an ounce of pie...sorry but so much better than yogurt. It was creamy and tart with the sweet graham cracker crumbly and buttery crust. I had 3 bites :) It was food orgasmic.

I solomnly swear that I was just about to start a thread to find out if I was the only one. 8 days out and I'm obsessed with the food Network and the Cooking Channel! Fantasizing about cooking all this wonderful stuff. Getting more ambitious than ever, and can't throw down anymore! I want to cook EVERYTHING! Is this like a survival mechanism kicking in, or what?

Quoting meg ryan... YES< YES< YES

Yes' date=' you will be able to eat this food again, just not in large quantities. I have had wings, street tacos, Indian food, jalenpenos (although not as many whole as before), BBQ, popcorn with butter, all of it.

Nothing is forbidden any more. Because of this beautiful sleeve I can easily control quantities.

Love this sleeve and being at goal. Patience to those of you in the process. Your time will come, sooner than you ever dreamed! Promise.[/quote']

I LOVE YOU, LEGAL! Thank you for the hope!

Ribs, oysters, Pasta, ice cream, we shall meet again!

OMG! So glad I came across this thread - here's another closet food porn addict coming out! My family hasn't stopped commenting about how many new recipes I've cooked for them since my surgery (foods that I can't even eat, mind you) - I thought I was the only weirdo getting some kind of sick enjoyment out of watching Top Chef (the Australian version - it's great) and doing tons of online recipe searches. So far, my family's favorite has been mini pizzas with lots of different toppings to choose from (e.g., homemade pizza sauce, roasted veggies, Tomato and basil, caramelized onions, etc.) - and I can't even eat any hot cheese any more! But I just get a kick out of making the stuff - glad to know this is somewhat normal :-)

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
