Hey Driver Deb,

I too was in that predicament. I was dying of embarrassment since I couldn't wear anything during surgery but everything was fine. I know several people said that were not able to wear tampons and I kept asking every nurse that came in my room as to when I could with no answer. Finally I just gave up and wore them anyway.

I got mine the day after surgery. The doc however said that there would be no problem if I had gotten it on the same day...

I was starting my period around the time of surgery, too. I luckily didn't start until the day after surgery, but I had emailed the coordinator the week before and she said it would be no problem. In fact, it's very common for patients to be on their period during surgery. She told me that I could simply wear a tampon or ask the nurses to provide a pad since we can't wear underwear in the operating room.

I asked this same question and was told that I couldn't wear a tampon. If it comes during surgery they will give you a HUGE pad that seems to reach from Maine to Spain - LOL and the biggest panties you've ever seen. You'll be fine. I thought my surgry would be reschedule because of my cycle but nope, all was went well.

All the best,

Niki

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
