SERIOUS QUESTION PLEASE EVERYONE READ!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Okay prior to surgery I had what I would call a normal period....I would get it every month with some spotting in between...........I would sometimes bleed quite heavily with my periods and even sometimes get blood clots. Well I am having my first period post surgery and it is ABSOLUTE HELL!!! I am going through a regular size tampon every 45 minutes and having tons of blood clots!! I don't feel weak or anything light that it is just more of a headache than anything. I just soaked in the bath for a half an hour for some sort of relief and what do you know as soon as I get out and sit on the toilet again more heavy bleeding!! Is this because of the rapid weight loss???

The hormones can cause crazy fluctuations with periods, but I don't know more than that. I am sure someone else will chime in.

I got a lot of bleeding after surgery. My surgeon said it's the standard transfer from surgery. It lasted a good week. If it goes on for longer than normal call your gyn and ask the question. Good luck!

I would call the doc. Doesn't sound normal to me. I have had 3 miscarriages and also a bout with cervical bleeding after surgery and I bled like that. Not fun...

Have you considered maybe a fybroid or ovarian cyst? About 2 years ago I found myself having very painful heavy periods. Low and behold, that was part of the problem. I'd go ahead and see the Doc just to make sure.

I always have heavy peroids. Had mine a week before surgery, stopped 2 days before surgery and for some reason the surgery made me start again 4 days after and go for another week. WEIRD!!!

This made me SEVERLY anemic. I was slightly anemic before and now it is really bad. I would call your dr. and let them know about the bleeding. They might not be so concerned, but they might, seeing as you just had surgery. If you get dizzy or lightheaded or just can't stand or stay awake, definatly let them know. That was my problem and I had to get on supplements. Now, every month when I have my period, I get soooo weak and dizzy. It is not fun!

I know in the beginning (right after being sleeved) my periods were HELL!!!!! Pre op I used to get them randomly every 35 to 50 days. Now I am at 28 to 31 days and it is crazy the clots I am getting. It has however gotten better over the last month or so. You can contact your gyny and see but it just might be the hormones that are being released from your fat cells. (Estrogen gets trapped in fat when you lose the weight it is released). But if you are really worried it is best to check with either your PCP or Gyn doc.

DEFINATELY GO TO THE DOCTOR. . . This is NOT normal. . .and I'm a OB/GYN/public health nurse. Been there done that, ended up with a hysterectomy. . . so off to the doc you go!

Mine have been extremely heavy but very short lived since surgery, we are talking 2 days of absolute torture and then it's done with. I never used to get cramps like I do now either. My PCM wants to try me on birth control but I'm not willing to take it so I just get to suffer now.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
