Jane (hi!!) - I'm totally with you on that one. The wine calories are killing me. I'm going on the wagon for a while after my hols. Good luck to us both!

I've only gained abt a kg so far, but gotta nip this crap in the bud. Also been off gym for a month cos of back problems, but physio cleared me to go back. Reset starts after hols!! :-)

Hi everyone! Checking in! I quit smoking 3 months ago (recently picked it back up AGAIN) but during that time I went from my very lowest of 133 to 147 EEK! I've leveled back out at 142ish and really 133 was when I was doing a lot of partying and not much eating. I'm doing plastics soon so I expect to drop 5 from that and I'm not too concerned with numbers but I'd like to stay around 140. :)

I just saw an interesting medical lecture that says that underweight people who smoke have worse longevity statistics than overweight people who are fit and don't smoke. It also said many people who are underweight smoke. It is a dilemma, but if you lost weight for health reasons... you know what you have to do.... and hit the gym to get fit if you don't already. I know I know, easier said than done! Best of luck.

I am ready to do something drastic.

I think I am going to drink Protein shakes and eat one salad a day for awhile. I do better when I am on liquids because then I don't graze. I just tell myself I am on liquids. I love Protein Shakes and I am never hungry so I might as well try this.

Oregondaisy I'm right there with you.....Maybe Protein Drinks for a day and some salads with fresh veggies for the munchies. I need to get away from the peanuts.....and everything.......How long are you going to try this? Hope to hear how it goes too. :)

I'm not sure how long I will do it. I guess it depends on how crazy it makes me. If it's really hard, I may cave in and eat something low carb.

I know I have to get rid of carb cravings because it's such a vicious cycle. I think in an Atkins book I read, it said it takes like 4 days to rid your system of carb cravings.

I do have cravings for carbs right now.....I am gaining some weight right now and it's driving me crazy. When I don't have carbs my words don't come out correctly and it drives me crazy. But I do need to get a couple lbs off. I find myself eating just to be eating. Not good. Bad habits coming back so thank you for the encouragement. :)

Hi Oregondaisy. What do you say we do this together? I'm really struggling and up 12 pounds. I'll do shakes and salad with you. And maybe add some grilled chicken on the salad. Shall we try the 4 days? We can update and encourage each other.

So I'm about a month out and I'm freaking out. About a week ago I hit a stall for about a week after losing just over 20 pounds. Now, almost a week later my scale says I've gained weight. For reference I went into surgery on April 22 weighing 316. When the stall hit my scale said 293. The last two times I weighed about5 days apart I had 297 and 300 respectively . I dunno what's happening. I'm following the rules doing 30 minutes of Cardio every day and the numbers are still creeping up. Anyone go through this or have advice?

I started out weighing every two-three weeks and then went down to every couple months. It's so awesome that way! I never get discouraged by gains or stalls! I've been pleasantly surprised every time I've stepped on the scale! I had no idea I was only 12 pounds from goal until I weighed today! I had been telling people I still wanted to lose 20 and they all said I was crazy! Lol!

I just try to focus on how happy I am with how I look and how much my health has improved! The numbers are just kind of a fun little milestone-marker I guess, but they're secondary to me!

I'm actually kind of hoping to gain a bit in the next month because I want to build some more muscle before tackling my last 12 pounds!

Don't get discouraged this happens sometimes... stay on track,, keep up the exercise ,,, keep eating what you are suppose to eat and before you know it the scales will start moving again. Our bodies want to hold on to the fat. It says ha she is starving me,, lets hold on... but eventually it has to let go. I also went through many times where the weight didn't budge for a couple of weeks... I would for my own sake look over what I'm eating and make sure it's Protein, , no more then 5 grams of fat and 10 grams of sugar per serving.. that is my Dr.s guide lines and it works very well. I'm 15 months out from surgery and trying to stay at my weight of 130 to 134.. I still need to stay in my guide lines and get the exercise. I've lost 107 pounds but had some weeks of nothing happening.... hang in there

What is your caloric intake? At this point, taking in less should be no problem, you probably have to remind yourself to eat. I have weighed every single morning for three years. I'd go up and down, up and down (a lb or two) during my entire losing stage, then I'd finally LET GO OF IT and on to the next couple of pounds. I never had a real 'stall', at least I never thought I did, there was one time that I did the up and down thing for ten days before letting it go for good, but that's it. My caloric intake during my whole losing period was never over 800 calories. In the beginning, the first couple of months, it was 350 - 450 calories. I was healthy, felt good - it was like being on a new adventure!!! Don't worry, it WILL go the other way. Do you keep an on line log so you know for sure what your calories and Protein are? (up your protein a little if you can and drink more liquids) I have logged my food and I still weigh and/or measure my food when I'm at home. Good luck and don't let it get you down.

For the last week or so I've been writing everything down and keeping track. Though everday is a little bit different, I've managed to keep my Calories between 700-900, my fat at 25-50, my carbs at 50-80, and my protein at 50-80. Which from what I was told by my doctors and others who've had surgery that's all fairly normal and decent levels. I do 30 minutes of cardio daily and I'll be uping that soon hopefully, and I'm drinking 40-70 oz of Water a day.

I just can't figure out whats happening. Sigh...

Look up "Three Week Stall" Many people have/had it. Do not believe that you can stay at the same weight or gain on 300-800 cals a day forever. Right?

I guess that's true, its just super frustrating, especially since it seems so soon after. I guess I'll have to keep after it of course, I get so paranoid especially when things seemed to have been going so well.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
