A book recommended to me by my Psychologist: Mindful Eating

It's a Buddhist book that talks about having a good relationship with food, eat to be healthy etc. Very fun and quick read.

Another Buddhist book: The Zen of Eating

I have a cookbook for weight loss surgery patients: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. The Author is a bandster. recipes look very easy and the book is very simple and organized. I haven't tried any recipes yet but enjoyed flipping through it to see what it's all about.

I also have a great older book called: Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal.

It has a paragraph or two on almost any food or spice you can think of. It's a good guide for people who like using health foods or home remedies.

The Complete Guide to Natural Healing: Lots of cool info on herbs and teas, home remedies, natural healing, beauty etc. I LOVE this one.

Conversations With The Fat Girl: A cute novel. Fun and easy read.

The Everything Yoga Book: I particularly enjoy the beginners stretching excercises. It pretty much helped me heal my sore back.

Also, this has nothing to do with being fat but found it to be a wonderful guide in love relationships: Light His Fire. Nuff Said lol.

Come on Ladies, I am sure I'm not the only book junkie around!

I'm a book junkie, too. :help: Of course, I turned my addiction into my passion and career.

As soon as I decided to get a lap band, I hit the stacks!!

Besides the cookbook you mentioned, I have...

Cooking with Soul: Soulful Cuisine Tailored for Gastric Bypass Patients. by Valerie Renee Campbell

To Serve with Love. by Carnie Wilson with Cindy Pearlman

Hugs from the Refrigerator: The Psychology of Emotional Eating. by James McClernan, Ed. D.

When food is Love. by Geneen Roth

3 Fat Chicks on a Diet. by Suzanne, Jennifer, and Amy Barnett with Bev West

Weight Loss Surgery A Lighter Look...At a Heavy Subject. by Terry Simpson, MD

Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. by Marina S. Kurian, MD et al

Before & After: Living & Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. by Susan Maria Leach

I'm Still Hungry: Finding Myself Through Thick and Thin. by Carnie Wilson with Cindy Pearlman

I recommend them all.:clap2: :clap2:

I think I've read 90% of the weight loss book on the market! (a slight exaggeration). I do love Geneen Roth's books because I am an emotional eater. When food is Love is my favorite. I've gone to 2 of her conferences too.

I have an idea!!:) We could start a book exchange club with all these great books. I don't know about you, but most of the time I read these books and then they sit on my shelf to collect dust after. If there's a particular one we want back, we could just request it back after it's been read. Anyone ever try something like this??...not really sure how exactly to set it up.:P

I haven't read it, but have heard good things about "Potatoes not Prozac" - I keep meaning to check it out, but haven't gotten around to it.

I'd be glad to swap with anyone. I'll put a list on here later of the books I own. Did anyone read Dr. Ortiz's book Lap Band for Life?

Yes!!! It is so good. I still refer back to it. I am also reading Blood type diet book right now. Not sure yet if I buy into it but it seems interesting.

I read that blood type book and as soon as it said NO tomatoes ever for my type, I said No way Jose! I LOVE tomatoes. My friend did it and it worked, so who knows. I think it's a load of "bleep". These are my books. Anyone is welcome to borrow:

The Ultimate Weight Solution- Dr. Phil

The South Beach Diet- Arthur Agatston, MD

Overcoming Overeating- J. Hirschmann/C. Munter

The Hunger Within- Marilyn Migliore

all by Geneen Roth:

When food is Love

Appetites

Breaking Free from Compulsive Eating

Feeding the Hungry Heart

Why Weight?

When you Eat at the Refridgerator, Pull Up a Chair

I also have Suzanne Somers books-Eat Great, Lose Weight

Eat, Cheat & Melt the Fat Away

Fast and Easy, etc.

How do I get my hands on this book mentioned above:

"Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. The Author is a bandster."

And also "Lap Band for Life" by Dr. Ortiz?

Does anyone know where I can buy these?

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
