My surgery is May 14th for those of u that have been through this already, I have a question for u. During the clear stage. How much broth do I need? I am planning to make a giant pot of homemade broth. An strain it and freeze ahead. But don't know how much I will need for those 7-10 days. Any thoughts. I figure I can produce better nutrient dense broth than in a can. :)

Well I love to cook so I am tryin to figure way to continue cooking and enjoying that with the new restrictions. I love Pho (Vietnamese soup) so I am thinking I can make some of that, and maybe some basic chicken stock.

well you can have as much broth as you want.. I am on solids right now and sometimes i just want broth to eat. When you get to the solid stage finally you will need something to dip your food in to make it go down easier..I say this because I dip my chicken and such in broth, gravy, or sauce to make it have more moisture in it. I don't think you will waste it..

if this helps you out at all, i buy those carton sized packages of chicken broth (from target/target brand) and they are 4 cups in each and one last me 2 days. so i stocked up on chicken broth. nice to have a warm drink after continuously drinking cold Protein Drinks. i would just have one cup servings once or twice a day

I made my own too and also used egg drop suop strained. I used alot actually close to 20 oz a day along with sf pops and special k Protein Water.I didnt have any problem getting in liquids and loved the unflavored whey in the broth too!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
