Insurance nightmare

Recommended Posts

OMG i am soo frustrated with my insurance. Priority Health. I have had my doctor submit my claims to them two times and they denied both. My last resort was to find out if I have sleep apnea then they would cover my surgery. I went today to sleep doctor and did find out i have sleep apnea, right away called my doctor who then called my insurance,,, and they still will not cover it unless I am actually hooked up to a pap machine.. Out of ideas.. I cant believe how strict Priority Health is on this issue. Anyone else have any advice on what route to try next..??

I am not afraid of the mexico idea , i am afraid to tell my family, i know they would be scared for me.

UGGGG

I'm so very sorry that your insurance is being such a pain in the butt. Can you get a CPAP machine?

Sometimes sharing other people's Mexico experience with family can ease their mind, and fears. I know I have never seen a bad experience posted by any of Dr. Aceves patients, and I've been on the weight loss forums for over 3 years. He would have been my only choice for Mexico surgeons if my insurance would not have covered my revision.

Since you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, it is probably a good idea to get a CPAP machine - I know they've done wonders for my dad and brother. But, look into renting since with weightloss your dependency on it should drop. Best of luck!

It sounds like your insurance company will just keep coming up with excuses and reasons NOT to cover the surgery which is typical of insurance companies - or really bad ones, which apparently you have. More Enlightened insurance companies figure you'd be taking preventative action by having the surgery and they'd save money on health care down the road, but as I say, those are the few and far between ones. If all else fails, just bite the financial bullet and go to Dr. Aceves - I did so I know what I'm talking about - and have him do the surgery. Anywhere from $8500 to $10K depending, and you're done. You can pay back the credit card company (or pay cash if you have it) instead of beating your head against the wall over the stupidity of the insurance company. That's my advice for what it's worth.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
