Protein powder with no sucralose?

Recommended Posts

This just keeps getting worse! I tried the Beneprotein today and it made me gag slightly. I'm wondering if I will just make my own "Shot" and just gag it down.

From Unjury:

The facility that makes the product also occasionally processes shellfish.

The chance that there would be any cross-contamination of shellfish into our product is extremely low, and the odds that it would be a significant amount are even lower.

But it is not impossible for that to happen, and we understand that allergic reactions can be life-threatening.

So we prefer to disclose everything we know, and allow each customer to make their own decision based on their own sensitivities.

:huh0:

Sorry you're not having good luck finding a Protein drink.

Are you still looking for a home for your unjury?

Maybe you should just have a Protein Drink with sugar. The amount you'll be drinking post op is not that much that sugar is going to hurt you. You'll be getting your Protein from regular food shortly after surgery.

I think I'll try DR. Mercola's Miracle whey. If you've the link handy can you post it here? Thanks Donna.

I am now using Dr. Mercola's "Miracle Whey" Protein powder, and it appears there are no artifical sweeteners in it. Ingredients state:

Defense Nutrition Whey Protein Concentrate, Fibersol, Organic Non Fat Dry Milk, Organic Sweet Whey, Fiberaid, Sun Flower Seeds Lecithin, Natural vanilla Flavoring, Medium-Chain Triclycerides, Gum, Natural Caramel Flavoring, Lo-Han.

That is for the vanilla flavored one. I bought all 6 flavors when they had the free shipping to Canada promotion. I started a thread here on it about 5 weeks ago if you search for Dr Mercola Whey it will probably come up.

Hope this helps.

Donna

Miracle Whey Protein Powder | Six Flavors

They also carry a pea protein powder for those who are lactose intolerant and/or vegetarians. Links to that are at the bottom of the page contained in the link above.

I just checked with them Lis and they will still honour the special pricing and free shipping that are in the promotion.

Thanks Donna, I will give it a try. I'm a suscriber to Dr. Marcola's newsletter and trust his products. It would be so nice if I finally could get over this aversion I've to Protein Shakes, since I loved them pre-surgery. Thanks again.

Oregon you can have my powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury...just send me your address. Sorry, Vegas, I have not gotten around to taking the stuff to the post office!

I emailed Monica and asked her if I could have brown rice/egg white/etc type Protein while in the clears phase. I found a few good broth recipes and will likely stick with that for most of it.

I am also going to use the BeneProtein (even though it has only 6g) and make Jello out of it, I think.

Usually my shellfish allergy just causes me to...well, not go to Red Lobster! Never has it been such an inconvenience!

Ok, so I am going to admit failure here! I have surgery Monday and my mind has just been swimming with a million things. I will send the stuff but it may take me awhile...sorry Vegas and Oregon.

I am excited -- today I am going to go get some "Any Whey" which lives up to my needs, at least on paper.

Newmom-CONGRATS - I'm so happy you found something that will work for you - I hope it is good in "real time" as it is on paper. If so, be sure to let everyone know as there are others that have the same allergies as you and will be happy you did all the research for them.

Mail the sample whenever you have time, I know with your surgery and the holidays time runs out fast ... I run out of day before I run out of chores that need to be done ...

So I tried it last night and still gagged a bit on that Protein powder smell, but mostly it smells like vanilla. However, it doesn't seem to mix clear so I can't use it for the clears phase.

So clears - Beneprotein

After that - AnyWhey

I also had to laugh. The Beneprotein has a tiny scoop and 7g of Protein. I was so excited that the AnyWhey was 17g per scoop. Then I saw the scoop! It is HUGE! Same as 2.5 scoops of the other...so oh well.

I also got a free sample of the sun warrior in the mail yesterday, but I am saving that for after surgery. It is brown rice vegan powder and it is chocolate flavored. I sent them an email and they were nice enough to send a free sample.

Moral of the story -- if you have a shellfish or any other type of allergy, email the manufacturer before you try any powders!

Thanks for all the help, everyone.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.
