Bikini waxing

Recommended Posts

I get my eyebrows waxed occasionally, but have resorted to getting them threaded instead- cleaner and lasts longer.

I ONCE got a brazilian- HONNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. That is all we will say about this experience. (and this was supposedly with a 'very gentle person- and the best in town'.

I like the sensitive nair better. I use it for my armpits and 'down in dallas' parts.

Ok... so I wax... actually hubby waxes me. We find it kinda romantic. I highly recommend Gigi brazilain wax... it comes in a kit with pre-wax oil which is a MUST. I get it at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Several of my friends "sugar" instead of waxing. They say they prefer it but I like the waxing better.

TMI? Oh well...somebody asked.

I had my armpits and legs waxed before my wedding. I was shaking in fear over the armpit wax and it didn't hurt much at all! Then, I was SHOCKED when they got to my legs and that hurt so bad I had tears running down my cheeks. It was the area in the front of your leg - your shin, that hurt SO BAD. After that, I never had the courage to do a bikini line.

I always wanted to get my armpits done again but haven't b/c I hated the fact that I had to grow them out a bit before the waxing. I think that is so gross! BUT it was great afterward, I had no hair there for about a month.

I just started using that new Dove deodorant that says you will shave less after a few months of use. I hope it works.

I may be the only one to experience this, but since surgery my body hair growth has slowed down significantly. I've always had fine, thin, light body hair. But, I started noticing about 3 months ago that I don't get stubble like I did before surgery. I used to have shave my underarms every day, but now it's more like every 3 days. My legs rarely need to be shaved. I'm lucky if I shave my legs every 2 weeks, and at pre-op I had to shave every 4-5 days.

I also had a lot of funky Hair growth under my neck because when I was 14, my hormones went crazy and my granny (God rest her soul) decided to help me out, and Naired my neck and chin.

I rarely have to tweeze those hairs anymore. Maybe my hormones have leveled out with the weight loss, I don't know but it's a nice change.

I'm so glad for you Tiff. Has this been pretty recent? I have PCOS and a lot of people report that with significant weight loss many of the symptoms like male pattern Hair growth diminish, but it hasn't happened for me yet. As a matter of fact, the hair growth on my face is growing faster than pre-op. I'm hoping this is a newer development for you because it gives me hope :-) But, either way I'm very happy for you!

As a matter of fact, the Hair growth on my face is growing faster than pre-op. I'm hoping this is a newer development for you because it gives me hope :-) But, either way I'm very happy for you!

Through the winter months, my hair always grows slower, but this sparse hair growth has been really recent. I shaved my legs last night for the time in 3 weeks, and I literally counted 40 little hairs on the top of my leg (shin area) and that was it. The hair on my thighs, and back of my legs have always been super sparse, but it's even worse now.

The hair on my neck (I have to shave it now), I know gross, sorry, but I only have to shave it every other day instead of every day. The chins on my hair only have to be tweezed instead of being waxed now, and they have slowed down significantly as well. I noticed it with my eyebrows and lip hair as well. I haven't waxed my lip or eyebrows in almost 2.5 months, and I used to have to do it every 4 weeks religiously.

So, it's a pretty new thing for me. I'm hoping it lasts because it's super nice to not have to shave, wax and tweeze so much.

Oh yeah, the other thing I noticed is when I had my c-section with Caysen, they shaved my entire lower abdomen. Well, lucky me with all the hormone changes grew hair from my belly button down to my pubic area. It was super gross, like a happy trail in men. I shaved it for the longest time, then started waxing it. Now, the hair has practically disappeared. There's a few strays, but for the most part, I don't have to shave or wax that area anymore.

wow....look at all the responses! I love it! I am an estetician and I do a lot of body waxing but I can tell you first hand that it is worth it to do the laser. I am blonde down there but I had it lasered and it did remove the majority of my hair. All but the very fine blonde downy hair. This hair is easily trimmed to where you cant even tell I have any..lol can't believe I'm saying this on this forum but what the heck. If you go to a reputable plastic surgeon they can numb the area that is about to be lasered and that helps a lot! Hope this helps!

I have had my lovely unibrow lasered....it did NOT feel like rubber bands snapping. It was like intense heat and a jolt of electricity right between the eyes. I only had to have one treatment, and it killed it all for three years before fine hairs started reappearing. But I also had my underarms done once, and while once was not as effective as with the unibrow (you're supposed to go through a course of treatments) it really didn't hurt much at all. This was maybe eight years ago, I'm sure the lasers have improved by now.

I have experience with laser hair removal. I had my underarms done a few years ago... I went through 10 treatments (as opposed to the normal five treatments), and I can't notice a difference. It's expensive... but just know, it does not work for everybody!!! The hair never went away and my dermatologist doesn't really have an explanation for it. Maybe because of my PCOS?

Oh waxing... I work at Ulta (it's a cosmetics/ fragrance store and salon) and I get waxed there. I get my eyebrows done and my bikini area. It really isn't that bad. The lady who does it is extremely professional. And, I just go ahead and do the whole area rather than just the bikini line. It looks/ feels better to me.

My niece threads and it HURTS. Especially around the mouth. I never noticed it lasting longer though.

Since we are all going to be wearing a swim suit soon, has anybody had experience with this? Waxing vs laser hair removal. I am modest, but really, everbody does it now, even the Brazilian wax, is pretty normal in most salons.

I had to grapple with this issue this year, so to speak. Trimmed all short with scissors and then used my leg depilator round the tops of my legs and the bikini line. It doesn't hurt as much as you think, and it does get better each time you do it.

:tongue_smilie:

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
