Since we are all going to be wearing a swim suit soon, has anybody had experience with this? Waxing vs laser hair removal. I am modest, but really, everbody does it now, even the Brazilian wax, is pretty normal in most salons.

Everybody, but ME ! ! ! I have a regimen that has been a lifesaver with shaving. I have this hang up about only my husband, and my doctors seeing my lady bits.

I thought about it but decided it wasn't something I wanted to do. I do get my eyebrows waxed and sometimes my lips and chin.

I have been thinking about laser hair removal but I'm a big chicken. Anyone have any experience with it?

I dont do it either. I have a good routine going, twice a week at night, I slap a bit of Nair on legs, bikini line, underarms, then get in the shower, have a good scrub, put on the fake tan. Keeps me brown and hair free all year round.

I have had my bikini like waxed before but what I hate about waxing is that you have to let it grow back some before you can do it again, bikini lines get itchy!

I dont see the point in Brazillians. I just dont understand the attraction, I find it slightly sick, this obsession with looking like a prepubescent child. And I think that at 42 after 3 babies, a bit of camouflage is a GOOD thing. I'm not sure I'd like what I saw, caesar scar included.

I get my eyebrows waxed though.

I get the brows and lips waxed all the time. But, am terrified of getting a Brazillian. I kind of agree with Jachut, that it makes you look prepubescent. But, I thought it might be something the hubby would like. I mentioned it to him not to long ago and he basically responded that it would be weird, and also likened it to a child and being too creepy. So, I opt to just keep things closely trimmed.

Jachut, do you find the nair is as smooth as a razor? I tried it years ago, and I felt like I still had stubble, so I never used it again. Maybe it is time I give it another try.

My problem with Nair is that it doesn't get all the hair off unless I leave it on forever and then it burns.

Though maybe it's better now.

Probably not, I just have very very fine body hair, and despite being dark haired and fairly olive skinned, my body hair is fair. I can leave my legs literally three weeks, have no noticeable hair on my arms etc.

I'm told there is a depilitory similar to Nair that you can get in "adult" stores....and it works better than Nair for pubic hair. going on hear say only....never looked for it and I don't know what it's called. My BF likes the natural look...thank goodness because the first time I waxed I said "I'll live a celibate life and devote that life to a nunnery if this is expected for me to have dates!"It's my story.. and I'm stickin' to it.

Well - I guess I'm the first to 'fess up - I had laser hair removal on my bikini line. And believe me - I've been wearing bathing suits with skirts on them for years because of that area. Never could seem to get it all shaving.

Anyway, laser removal is not absolute. It doesn't remove every single hair. It gets most of it and you can shave the little bit that's left. It works best on dark hair - so blondes and grays (you know you're out there, ha!) are discouraged from doing it. It hurts a bit when they're doing it, but kind of like a rubber band snap on your skin. Not too bad, and it's over pretty quickly. You have to have several treatments over months (4-6 depending on your hair growth), so if you're going to do it you should get started soon.

And of course, it's permanent -so no getting waxed every few weeks. I've had my upper lip and lower legs waxed and didn't even think about doing it in such a sensitive area. But I guess there are plenty of people that do it or they wouldn't stay in business .

i normally wax and think it's a great thing. i think that after the first time, the fear factor is gone, making it more painless. of course, i totally think that the level of pain depends on your waxer and the kind of wax used. make sure it's someone with references. also, i did my first laser treatment and thought it was pretty painful. it didn't last too long, so the pain was compareable.

There's a Nair for the face which works beautifully in "that" area... it has to sit for a few more minute, but it's much more gentle on your parts. That said...

I tried to do a bikini wax on myself once. OMG. NEVER AGAIN. Soooo painful.... I just couldn't do it, and I've waxed my eyebrows, upper lip, arms, and legs. after a couple of attempts at pulling the wax off I found myself sitting on the edge of the toilet, legs propped up on the edge of the counter top trying to cut the wax out with scissors, swearing and dripping sweat. How's that for a visual?

I got my eyebrows waxed once, my god I ended up with bruises all around the eyes, looked like i got into a real bad cat fight. . . never again. . . I've used the Nair, it works really well. . . and best of all, no razor bumps. . .

Holy crap that needed a warning ! ! !

I almost tinkled on myself laughing so hard.

I will have to say now that I've lost weight, shaving blindly or my feel is no longer an issue.

I think it's a little saddistic to slap wax on such a sensitive region. I have a huge pain tolerance, but there is no way on God's green Earth will I volunteer to have myself or someone else wax my parts.
