So what was the result of your cottage cheese test, Mac? How 'bout the others?

Well, I'm going from memory. So take it with a grain of salt.

But most people 6 months out or less were reporting 4 oz. or less. I was 5 oz at 7 month. Once you got past 6 months, people were reporting 4 to 6 oz. At one year I was 6 oz.

So I think I can eat more than most people. But I want to redo my test because I didn't have a big tub like you are supposed to. I had two individual servings. So I wasn't sure how much Water to pour in (i.e., were the line was).

I hear people commenting that they feel their stomach may have stretched some from the time of surgery to a couple months out. My theory on that is your stomach is swollen for a couple of weeks after surgery and holds a smaller amount than it would once the swelling is completely gone, say in 2-3 months.

You are right, at first it is swollen and healing from the trauma. When you allowed to eat soft foods, about 3-4 weeks out, take tiny bites knowing this. Stop at the first sign of fullness and do not try to force it. You can get your Protein from shakes, protein Soups, protein pudding, etc. Slowly, your stomach can hold 2 oz of dense protein, up to 4 oz of soft protein, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese. I was told that my stomach will, by one year, stretch to 8 oz. That is why we need to take advantage of the first 6 mos.

I'm 4 month post-op sleeve, and I still can't eat very much of dense Protein or anything else for that matter. Can I eat more now than at 6 weeks, yes, maybe a little. If there's any stretching, it's something minuscule you don't even notice unlike the bypass pouch which can and does stretch to the point that people can actually gain the weight back if they don't watch it.

I am almost at 8 months. I had taco salad for lunch at 12:00. I bet there was a cup of ground meat on the top.I ate about half of it ( just the meat, not the lettuce) with guac and sour cream. It's now 3:00 and I am still so full, I feel like I am over stuffed. So, at 7 1/2 months, I am not stretched to the point where it's stretched too much. I feel like I ate a giant turkey dinner and it's 3 hours after I ate.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
