Recommended Posts

If you can stomach the Isopure zero card drinks are doing great for me! I got to start mushies today (partially cause I am loosing weight to fast.............. like who would have thought that would be a problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -21 lbs)

I am so full from the ground beef and Beans from the burritos I made the kids for dinner.....I think I might pop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but I would call your dr. get advice from his / her nutritionsit. But I can say that the 80 g of Protein I get from the iso pure is making me never want to eat! (and my nails are growing like crazy!)

I lucked out with my Isopure RTD...... I stopped by GNC and they had 5 cases of the RTD that were expiring the end of August and he marked them down to 2.19 each and I got him to take another 50 cents off and used my card and a cupon so it was about 1.17 each...... I knew it would be no problem to get them drunk before they exipred,

I sed the powder when I had my band..... I hated that..... but the bottles are not bad....... though I had to get all the same flavor...... orange bannana pineapple.

But I just go in once a week and pull out wha tis expirining and he gives it to me cheap....so I tried the other flavors. I like the grape the best.

Because of all the running I do.....if I get hungry like the band.....i need to have something in the car that is rtd in case I can not get something at a fast food place that is healthy and easy to eat and drive........ it is hard being a part time taxi driver to the 8 kiddos!

I have a few issues with blood sugar and dropping that I need to watch when I got to agout 165 lbs......and I have yet to figure out how to drink w/o a straw from a McDonalds cup w/o wearing it (they have the light lemonaide!) and Going into a QT or Quickie mart....is not always an option cause it means unloading the kids.............. that is so much easier said than done!

Of the flavors I tried, the grape was the best. They did not have the orange pineapple banana flavor at my GNC - that might have been okay. I made jell-o shooters out of the ice raspberry flavor adding it to raspberry jell-o - those were okay too although I didn't eat all 36 of them!

Hungrygirl---I TOTALLY understand what you are going through! i'm sure some of the wonderful people on here remember me saying the same thing a little bit ago! I felt so hungry after the surgery. I was convinced that something had gone wrong or I was duped (like you said). If you are on full liquids, the Protein Shakes, Jello, sf pudding, and watered thined low fat cream Soups help. Trust when I say that although the liquid phase feels like an eternity, it will pass. I am on the mushies now and it has made a big difference. I am still dealing with feeling "hungry" but, I think a lot of it is learning to interpret the feelings in my insides and my head. It is a marathon and not a sprint and there is constant learning along the way. We are learning how to re-think a lifetime of what our "normal eating" was. I am just shy of three weeks out and I have lost 18 pounds. I am excited to continue to learn about myself. Give yourself some time and you will too. :laugh0:

Please Please don't give in to head hunger!!!!!! keep eating the popcyles they will help. I made homemade chicken Soup and just drank the broth. It seemed to help also bought chewable vitamins. chewed them till they were mush but really helped with the chewing cravings. It won't last forever and it will be worth every minute that you can hang in there. I also chewed gum different flavors and it also helped Just don't swallow. It won't be long and you will be able to eat more than liquid just take it one day at a time. Sounds very silly but it really does help. Also avoid TV it was the hardest thing because of all the commercials.

Water is tough to get down I had to relearn to just sip and I mean just sip. I still will take a big gulp and it hurts burping has really helped alot. I think my new favorite phrase is excuse me! I say it alot and I had my surgery in February but who cares I sure don't and all my friends laugh now or say God bless you. I think that is funny too!

That is now my newest most used phrase as well...sometimes they just pop out of me with no warning -- if I know they are coming, I at least have enough time to cover my mouth and the sound is softer; but I do it alot. I asked Dr. Campos if I will always be belching like a sailor or if that would subside and he said, eventually it will subside. Thank goodness.

I have finally got past the burping issues, but I have a different embarassing problem. For me, my stop signal is a very loud, obnoxious sounding hiccup. My body doesn't care if I am at home, work or a very nice restaurant, when it reaches the point where it knows I have had enough food, out comes the loud hiccup. My family thinks it is hysterical and if we are in a restaurant, they think it is fun to mimmic me to draw attention away from me.

I used to have that a hic up when I was banded. That seems to be my problem now. I have no signal. I have to guess how much to eat. Sometimes I guess wrong and then am either in a lot of pain or I am doing that watery mouth thing. I am getting better at it though.

Even though I have the signal, I am still bad about not listening and taking just one more bite. It is that last extra bite that does me in every time!

Less than a week before gastric bypass surgery. I'm nervous but excited. Been lurking here for a while, reading. I'm about ready as I'm going to get. Down 20 pounds in 3 months. A ton of pre op testing done and cleared. Food/drinks, chewable vitamins, protein, meds bought. On 2-week preop diet now which includes 2 protein shakes a day along with 3 ounces lean protein and 2 1/2 C.  non starchy veggies and is totally do able for me. Clear liquid day before surgery. A full sugar Gatorade night before  and again 2 hrs before arriving at the hospital. Interesting how different everyone's diets are depending on your doctor.
      I'm optimistic all will go well. Good luck to the April surgeries happening this month and to all that are going through the process.  {{hugs}}

195 weight when I went in for surgery
199 weight when I got home for surgery
193.2 weight 4 days after surgery
If the inflammation from surgery is resolved, I've lost 1.8lbs in 4 days.

Had surgery last Thursday, so I've been home for 2 days as of 15 minutes ago.  I weighed more when I got discharged than when I went in despite only having eaten a Jello cup in 2 days, but I put that down to inflammation. This morning I weighed a little less than I went in.  I sneezed last night and my fiance saw me cry for the first time, and we've been together 16 years. I took my multivitamin first thing this morning and threw up. Kept it down after drinking 4oz protein shake. Yogurt gives me diarrhea, water hurts more than the fuller liquids, and my stomach is turning somersaults and I think I'm hungry because I'm used to interpreting it that way, but I have no desire to eat.
My biggest problem is that I am used to being busy.  I own a business and I've been getting active on these boards, and when I'm on my laptop I forget to drink. Will I hurt myself if I drink faster?  I've been scheduling 4oz every 30 minutes with breaks before and after meals.  Is it too fast to drink 4 oz in 15 min to get caught up on what I missed?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

I had the same issue. My scale was 6 pounds heavier than my bariatric doctor's. My scale agreed with my nutritionist's scale. I asked my bariatric doctor to have her scale recalibrated and she said it was a really expensive scale, so she trusted it. So, when it comes down to it, the scale that matters isn't the one that's right, it's the one that determines if you get your surgery or not. I would ask her when it was last calibrated and see if she will calibrate it. The difference is I Iost weight so well on the lifestyle change diet that I had to stop losing weight or risk not getting the surgery.
