Hi everyone' date='

I was banded on July 18 and had a rough post-op experience the first two days but its getting better. My wounds are healing over and look like big black callouses. I'm looking forward to losing some serious weight and having trouble sticking to the liquid diet. The problem is I was expecting these warning signals to occur when I ate solid foods which did not happen so I'm like now it's just me having to eat Protein drinks when I really want to and can chew on something else! Help![/quote']

I'm sorry to hear that. I was banded on the same day! I can't see my incisions yet because my steri strips haven't come off. Would drinking more Water help at all? I don't know if we are supposed to feel the warning signs until after our first fill so your not alone! I think when this happens to me I'm going to try and focus on pushing Protein sources other than shakes I guess, since they are supposed to help make us feel fuller longer.. hoping it gets easier for you!

Hi south jersey mom I'm by lbi I used dr fresco. I woke up this morning with an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and Below my rib cage. I noticed it while sleeping... I'm hoping its just gas or something. I haven't had any issues since ring banded 12 days ago therefore it made me a little anxious. It's not pain but its an uncomfortable feeling. I didn't over eat or eat anything that got stuck. I also haven't eaten anything today. I just took 2 gas x strips hope they help

Not a problem glad to set you mind at ease :) my appointment is the 31st. And at the moment I am hungry all the time can not wait till next week.

I'm not really all that hungry. As long as I drink my liquids don't really think about it. :)

I have not been able to pass gas as much as I need to' date=' thats for sure. Gas X helps somewhat, but I am definitely going to have to try something stronger soon... any suggestions? Love the heating pad...without it, probably wouldn't get any sleep![/quote']

Gas x did nothing for me, but activated charcoal seemed to help.

Hello Bansters!! My name is Chaundra and my surgery date is July 31st!! I am sooo excited. It took 27 days to get my approval from my insurance (Cigna). Did anyone else call their insurance everyday, a few times a day checking the status, when you were waiting to get approved? LOL i blew their phone up big time, I was very hard waiting. But I am so glad that is over and surgery day is near.

Thanks everyone below for sharing all of your stories and experience, that has helped me alot. I have been trying to gather everything i need after the surgery. Tomorrow is my pre op appointment with my doctor. i also plan to get a colonic, as i hear that people have problems going to the bathroom after surgery...

I can't find activated charcoal anywhere .. Where did u find it Aviva?

CVS or Walgreens... if it's not at your local drug store - check a Whole Foods or any kind of health food store.

ugh that sounds awful :(

do you have a local doc you can go to? if not - i'd post this as a question on the Post-Op main feed. i know i saw some others posting about something similar and they might be able to tell you what helped them.

Hi guys had my bad fitted on the 16th July am starting week 2 but little confused what to eat , am meant to be on a puréed diet but don't know when to stop eating and how much to eat either. Please help!!!!

hey France - i measure out my portions before I start eating, so that way if i don't notice my body telling me to stop, at the very least i've run out of food. My nutritionist told me no more than 1 cup (8oz) at a meal/sitting. If i want a little variety and more than one taste in a meal, then i reduce the size portion of stuff I'll consume. As an example last night I had 1/2 a cup of canned green Beans and 1/2 a cup of vegetarian baked beans - but i measured it before I ate it to help me from overeating.

if you are still hungry after the 1 cup portion my recommendation is to change activities - do something else for a while - and if it's an hour later and you're still hungry, then have another 1/4 or 1/2 cup of something.

also, make sure you're fully hydrated. sometimes i mistake hunger for thirst and i'll eat something only to still have the same feeling in my body - but it turns out what solves it is a drink.

Avila, I hope I don't come off as an ass but I can't keep my mouth shut. I've seen you post similar stuff before about doing something else if you're hungry or stopping after a cup of food. I can only speak for myself but if I had that kind of control, I wouldn't be a fat ass that had to get a Lapband. Your suggestions are noted but at times they, to me, to be a little condescending, in that, I am weak or inferior because I can't do Portion Control or cannot control my hunger. I can eat the same amount of food I could before banding and am hungrier cause this liquid stuff is not doing the trick. No disrespect meant but I needed to get that off my chest...

I'm getting excited. Hubby (who is also a bandster from 2 years ago) took me out an got us each a new fitbit (logs your activity, sleep time, calories in and calories out. etc... and he got us the matching scale called the fitbit Aria and we have made a day of figiuring out our new toys, then going to a gym to work out, and out to eat for a cup of Soup each. Then home in an effort to pull our house into the sanctuary we would like tot be when it gets close to our anniversary.

I'm so happy. I love my life

195 weight when I went in for surgery
199 weight when I got home for surgery
193.2 weight 4 days after surgery
If the inflammation from surgery is resolved, I've lost 1.8lbs in 4 days.

Had surgery last Thursday, so I've been home for 2 days as of 15 minutes ago.  I weighed more when I got discharged than when I went in despite only having eaten a Jello cup in 2 days, but I put that down to inflammation. This morning I weighed a little less than I went in.  I sneezed last night and my fiance saw me cry for the first time, and we've been together 16 years. I took my multivitamin first thing this morning and threw up. Kept it down after drinking 4oz protein shake. Yogurt gives me diarrhea, water hurts more than the fuller liquids, and my stomach is turning somersaults and I think I'm hungry because I'm used to interpreting it that way, but I have no desire to eat.
My biggest problem is that I am used to being busy.  I own a business and I've been getting active on these boards, and when I'm on my laptop I forget to drink. Will I hurt myself if I drink faster?  I've been scheduling 4oz every 30 minutes with breaks before and after meals.  Is it too fast to drink 4 oz in 15 min to get caught up on what I missed?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

I had the same issue. My scale was 6 pounds heavier than my bariatric doctor's. My scale agreed with my nutritionist's scale. I asked my bariatric doctor to have her scale recalibrated and she said it was a really expensive scale, so she trusted it. So, when it comes down to it, the scale that matters isn't the one that's right, it's the one that determines if you get your surgery or not. I would ask her when it was last calibrated and see if she will calibrate it. The difference is I Iost weight so well on the lifestyle change diet that I had to stop losing weight or risk not getting the surgery.
