Hello all! I was banded on 5/13. I am struggling a little....I started at 287, I'm down to 266 already. But the first week the weight flew off on the liquid diet and now this week I'm fluctuating on losing a pound then the next day I gain a pound and so on. How quickly in the first few weeks does the weight come off? Am I on track? Should I be down more this week? Ughhh! I'm think I'm too eager to loose it and not patient enough! Will it come off easier when I get my first fill? I don't feel the fullness and sometimes feel I am over doing the 1/2 cup of food... Suggestions? Help!

Calm down. lol. You're right on track. Everyone is different. You're still in the healing phase and some people even gain during this time, it's not uncommon. Focus on healing, just be patient it will all fall into place and will come off before you know it. Just follow your dr's orders and rules and you should be just fine.

Your body may fluctuate because of changing food choices. One week on only liquids, then one on mushies, then start real food. I think when you start real food, you would think that you would gain weight. It's different for everyone.

I was banded in early May as well and am on soft foods. I've lost 8 pounds since May 2 (surgery date) and began working out again a week and a half ago. The last two weeks I haven't lost any weight. I started tracking my food on My Fitness Pal as others have suggested to keep focused. I think it is fair to say that our body needs time to adjust. I don't go in for my first fill for a couple weeks. Good luck!

I had my band on 5/10 and lost 16lbs during my clear liquid phase and haven't lost anything in a week. In fact Ive gained almost 2 lbs. So I was starting to get concerned but I agree with DMJ0340 that our bodies probably just need time to adjust. However I hope to see the scale move in the OTHER direction soon!

I have the same problem. I lost about 10lbs the first 6 days, then period came, and i gaained 2lbs, which I lose later. I just had a nextplanom, anticonceptive, put in on that second week, so not sure if the plateau that came was because if it, or the period. In the end, my second week of liquids was a bust, but then the following two is been gain couple, lose couole, dont lose any. I guess my body is learning to adjust, healing, etc. So today is 33 days out and I have lost 19lbs. I get my first fill in a week. Will see what happens. Good luck, things will get better.

Ps, been reading a lot of posts, and Mis73 talked about carb cycling to get off a plateau. So in the future keep that in mind. Several people mentioned in that thread they tried it after she told them, and it worked, they started losing again.

I lost 8 lbs first week, was at 12 lbs at 4 week post op appointment...and at 8 weeks out- I am only at 14 lbs since surgery. My PA said that most people average 12 lbs at 6 weeks out because the body is going through such shock! Just keep doing things the right way! It will come off!

I am having the same issues. I was banded on 5/7 and I have only lost 2 pounds since. I did well with pre-op and post-op diets, I lost 23 pounds in that time. I also am having trouble finding when to stop eating. I have had no problems with food coming back up but I feel I am over eating. I am walking 2 miles 3 times a week and have been getting ready to move so my activity is really p compared to my life before lapband. I go for my first fill next Monday. I guess I too am just wanting some faster results and I am worried I'm eating too much.

I was banded 5/16 and have lost 1 pound a day. Are you on a diet of some sort?

Ok. Sorry. Dumb question. I meant a medical diet, like 2 weeks liquid, 1 week mushies... Etc.

1 lb a day!?!?!? In less than a year you're going to disappear!

It's not uncommon to start losing the weight consistently until they start giving you fills and you become more restricted. Most doctors that I know do the first fill 6 weeks after the operation.

Most of the weight you lose on the pre-op diet is Water weight, which is why it tends to come off so quickly.

Just remember, this is a marathon and not a sprint. Be patient, get your fills, and do what your doctor advises and you will eventually see the weight slowly start to melt off.

My post op diet is 10 days Clear Liquids, broth, Jello, clear Protein Drinks, etc then 10 days full liquid which includes milk and cream Soups and Protein smmoothies, and then 10 days mushy, like pulled chicken, refried Beans, anything mushy in texture. After 30 days then its regular food.< /p>

I fully understand that adding back food WILL slow my weight loss. I am prepared.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
