woman has lapband removed so she can eat...

Recommended Posts

She is clearly in need of help to understand the consequences of her morbid obesity and to deal with her relationship with food.

In many ways I feel sorry for her but I feel even sorrier for the British people who will find it even more difficult to access WLS thanks to the publicity surrounding this one person's situation.

I have gone from a size 24-26 to a size 14 and love my new life! Sure, I don't eat the foods that I used to love and definitely nothing in the way of quantities that I used to eat. And there are times that I miss those foods and quantities, but my life is so much better now that there is no way I am ever going back.

Not only as she cost te system a lot of money, no doubt she will continue to as her health fails due to her weight.

It seems to me she thought it would be magic - like so many do - and was unable to do her part. It's frustrating, yes, but it lso highlights what a terrible disease obesity is and no helpless one people are in it's grip.

I'm sorry' date=' I'm going to be really harsh...

....I'd like to smack the stupid out of this woman.

She says “i qualified for the band, and just because it didn’t work for me, it isn’t my fault" Ummm, yes it IS 100% her fault!! She apparently did everything wrong. But for her to blame the band for her ignorance is downright infuriating.

Oh and her saying she's "happy and healthy" now is complete crap. If she's happy being fat then great for her but it is far from "healthy" when your BMI is over 50. She is a ticking time bomb because of her obesity. And...knowing first hand how miserable life is at that size? I'm sorry, but I'm not buying the "happy" thing for a moment either. Just say'n.

I know the band doesn't work for everyone but this woman is the poster child for people who should never have any WLS to begin with.[/quote']

I would like to slap stupid out of her toooo while she is eating a cheese burger !!

Sad, she looked really nice at sz 14. I can't imagine wanting to gain all my weight back. Sharon Osborne had hers removed too, but she has not gained her weight back. I agree, she needed a psych evaluation before hand. Shame the money she wasted the government. Karen

My sister wants to get the band, but in the UK there is a long waiting list...so yeah I'd like to punch this idiot in the face for wasting time and money when there are many people waiting in the UK who want the band to get healthy, like my sister...

Very true what you say here. Could not imagine why she wanted to weigh what she does, but binge eating and compulsive (both of which I have the joy of dealing with) can be an issue and you got to have some mental change and working with a professional would have helped her. Sad story.

The band did its job. How else did she lose 10 stone... I can tell you of i lost 140lbs I wouldn't be complaining that it didn't work.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
