Clonazepam & wellbutrin

Recommended Posts

Hi...Im beggining my process with the lapband. I just have the appointment for the seminar, I know its just the beginning. ...Im concern about the insurance approval and I hope anyone here can give me an advise, or tell me your expirience...Im in the process of disability to take ssdi. I have anxiety disorder and other things...I think Im in the end of the process because in May I will have my hearing with the ss judge. I have two years of therapies, medication and depression too. My question is, its possible my insurance can denies me for my condition my mental history or my actual meds??? Now I take Clonazepam, Wellbutrin, and Ambien.... Any experience or advise I will really appreciate!

Hi. I would guess that you would not be denied surgery based on your med list an diagnosis. In your phsych appt they may ask questions regarding your mental stability only in refferance to see if you are understanding enough to comprehend the whole aspect of surgery.

I too take many of the same meds as you (an many more :-) ) an i had my surgery one year ago.

Good luck!

My experience as a DHHS Service Coordinator tells me this.

The psych eval will be used to determine if you're mentally prepared for the stress of recovery and the lifestyle changes afterwards it should also help identify if you have an adequate support network.

If your behaviors are well managed and you've been stable, your meds shouldn't matter but you'll probably need to plan on increasing the frequency you see your psychiatrist to make med adjustments after the surgery. You may also need to plan on counseling or more frequent counseling.

I would encourage you to keep in mind the surgery can also cause depression if you don't have a supportive environment you may perceive people criticizing how you eat, people judging you for "taking a quick fix"; and simply the fact you'll be putting so much effort into what you eat but still not see the progress you want some weeks.

Some of those perceptions will come from you but others could come from negative people around you. The band is not a magic pill part of preparing for it is being prepared for set backs. If you aren't already doing so I'd start looking at the post op diets that are published online and practice following them.

This is precisely what the psychiatrist said to me when I went through my eval for this surgery. Me, who had never had a depressive day in my life! She said to be mindful (prepared) that depression may occur even in those people not predisposed to it, for the reasons you cite.

It's important for me to be attentive to this--and to know it is normal-- and I'm glad she included it in my sessions.

many of us on here take the same medications and have done well with the surgey and weight loss... that will not enter into if the insurance will cover it or not.

Depressed in a size 8. I'll pop a lithium and suck it up

I'm in the States so I don't know how helpful this will be, but when I went for my first visit with the psychologist I was on four meds for anxiety and depression and two meds for sleep. They weren't concerned at all. I think they felt good that I was getting treatment. I did do a total med overhaul before the surgery and was doing very poorly. This concerned the surgeon and she suggested postponement, but I was able to convince her that all would be fine. I went back to one of my old meds (Wellbutrin, like you) and am doing much better. Good luck to you!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
