Do you all calorie count? How many calories?

Recommended Posts

So do you?

Im struggling to loose weight with not been at proper restriction yet.

9weeks post op!

I calorie counted for a while and then stopped when my portions became smaller due to fills.

Im back counting calories again, i use an app on my phone.

The app tells me i need to eat 1200 or my body will go into starvation mode but ive seen some bandsters eat as little as 800 a day.

So what is right??

I really think the amount of calories for me depends on the amount I'm working out! on days I work out I will increase my calories. I never go below 1000 calories. I don't feel I can get in the proper amount of nutrition on less than that. I pay a lot of attention to proper nutrition and I think that is why I never had problems with Hair loss. You may have to play with the numbers to see what works best for YOUR body. Same as with food choices. I know that I get very tired and weak feeling if I don't get enough Protein. And carbs don't agree with me! It is definitely a process of getting to know your body. Be patient and figure it out, it will be worth the time. Good luck!

You need to go see a nutritionist, in fact for a lot of banded people it's a requirement by their surgeon to see a nutritionist. They can help you to establish not only a good calorie range but help good food guidelines for your lifestyle.

Best wishes.

Everyone is different. In my support group most folks don't go below 1200. I am between 1400 and 1600. Keep in mind I am training for a half marathon.

I asked my nutritionist and she said focus on getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day and limiting the portions. She said that is more important than counting calories. however, in spite of just doing that, I am trying right now to eat around 800-1100 as I am not exercising much.

This is to the restriction part of your post. I dont count calories just measure everything. If you are hungry make sure you are eating the right kinds of foods. Solids not shakes or yogurts or stuff like that. Make sure you are eating slow. Also make sure you are drinking enough Water. liquids help getting and keeping you satisfied. If I am hungry and not time to eat I drink first then if still hungry I get a healthy snack. Best of luck!

No restriction yet....but smaller portions due to fills.....that IS restriction....

Just saying...

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
