Can't they take over the cooking for you? At 17 I wasn't gourmet by any means but I could make French toast, a burger, eggs, and some other simple things. You have done it or them all these years so why can't they help you for another week or two?

I cooked but I cooked healthy foods and my wife didn't mind. She's down 25 lbs so far. I didn't mind being around food all that much so it wasn't difficult for me. Cook them some health food. That'll shock em into fending for themselves?

Like tmf said I told my dh that he was either doing the cooking himself or he had to eat healthy - surprise he's lost about 20 pounds (no fair!). It's been good for us and for our kids. When I was on the all liquid thing a few times I had to take my cup of Soup into my room and eat away from them and then cry ;) but that part does get better. Keep up the good work.

Okay pretty annoyed. My father died when I was 11, my mother more or less had a nervous breakdown. My sister who was 15 and I had to fend for ourselves. My mother was able to do grocey shopping but that was about it. We cooked for ourselves (packed our own school lunches) for about 6 months.

No time like the present for young adults to learn to care for others. Let them look up a recipe, send them to the store, and then they can give it a go in the kitchen. Overstepping my bounds a bit here, but let them clean the house too... it builds character :)

I'm sorry for what you are going through. It's extremely hard to be in the liquid phase and be around people who can eat what they want, let alone cook for them! I feel for you, I really do.

17 to 28? They should have the maturity, compassion and common sense to cook their own damn food. Mom needs support and TLC right now. Have a talk with them and see if you can get them to understand this. Heck, show'em these post's and let them see that complete strangers feel for you! (semi-lol) You need to take care of you.

As far as I'm concerned, the tides changed when they hit the age of 16!

I wish you much luck...

By14 it was my resposibility every day to make dinner for our family of 7 and clean the kitchen.

Tell them this is a rough time for you. They can either step up and fend for themselves or starve!! Believe me they will not choose to starve.

During my liquid phase I went for a walk while everyone else cooked and ate it was easier for me to deal with.

Another thought, ppl treat you the way you allow them to treat you.

You need to stand up for yourself.

This is your time!!!

BTW my mom left my 2 bros & myself with my dad. At 14yo I cooked, cleaned, shopped for groceries & did laundry.

My bros tell everyone, I was their mom.

I turned out ok. Been married 40 yrs next month.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
