I feel okay for the most part. I'm still sore and tired. I'm not hungry at all, so it hard to get my fluids in. I think about broth and get sick. And for some reason I feel really alone during the . To much time on my hands to think. By the way anyone from Pittsburgh? Thanks for letting me vent.

You definitely don't want to deal with dehydration (often times that will send you back to the hospital), but just continue to drink what you can. Lots of little sips. Maybe set your timer for every 15-30 minutes...sip. Doesn't have to be just broth does it? Protein drinks, Crystal Light...? Cheer up pretty lady. This gets much easier and... you're never alone on LBT! I found a lot of folks on this site to be amazingly supportive and caring. ((little hug bc you're still sore. Ha)) ;)

don't feel alone, we are all here for you. No, I'm not from PA, KY actually. I had my mom taking care of me while I was recuperating and of course my Dachshund keeping me company. I do hope you have family support or friends you can count on to help you. I did lots of walking around the house to get rid of gas pains and of course to keep from getting blood clots but on the otherhand I rested too. I'm 4 mos post op and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself, wish I had done it yrs ago. Best of luck to you.

No Protein until one week follow up. I will try crystal light tomorrow. Thanks for the timer idea. Sometimes you just have to hear the stuff you already know from someone else. Lol

Have alot of family support. My gram and my boyfriend are taking care of me. Glad to hear you are doing good. And that it gets better. I'm just not use to sitting still. I'm getting cabin fever. But having you guys is great too. LBT is the best!!! And thanks again.

5 days post op you should be able to get out and about. I was already off meds by then so I visited my gramma, walked laps of Walmart, went out walking on the trails, met a girlfriend for tea...........there is no reason unless you are in severe pain that you have to be stuck and bored at home. Get out of the house.

She's still on Clear liquids though, energy must be in the toilet! I only had Clear Liquids for 2 days post op!

This will pass soon enough. Hang in there!

Good for you, and maybe tomorrow make a coffee date with a friend. Just something to look forward to and to get away from the television and out of the house. :)

Go out and buy yourself Gatorade G2 - I lived on Water, gatorade, and chicken broth. You need to stay hydrated, the gatorade will actually help with replenishing any electrolites you lose during this process, including potassium. Drink all day long I did both every day for a while until my body was completely healed.

Also, you may want to buy 'unflavored' Protein powder and add that to your chicken broth, it will help tremendously with getting some nutrients in your body until you are able to 'eat'.

Best of luck!

One more suggestion: When I was on clear diet I could drink the Protein Drink, Isopure. It comes in a few flavors, all of which I didn't like very much but they are extremely high in Protein with no carbs. You mentioned not being able to have Protein Drinks yet, but maybe you're dr. means portein shakes. I was actually given this drink in the hospital after surgery and before my release. Again, I didn't love it, but I was fine with it knowing I was getting in much needed protein. Good luck with your recovery - in no time, you're going to love the improved you! :)

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
