Day 3 And Drinking More Than I Thought I Would

Recommended Posts

Hi-

Was banded Weds am and feel pretty good... I was wondering how much liquid y'all are drinking... My doc said 6-8 eight oz cups was the goal, but I get that pretty easy. Am I doing something wrong? Should it be harder to drink?

I don't think so, especially if you don't have a fill. It's basically like you didn't have a lapband. Honestly, unless you're drinking glasses of fat, I wouldn't worry too much. Nothing is wrong!

I did have 3 glasses of Motzah-ball Soup broth which I guess is pretty fatty. Otherwise I'm having Tomato Soup and Protein shakes... And tea...

I'm just a week post op went in for a checkup today. I drank all day long the liquids will pass through the band so you can drink all the fluids you want of course no shakes soda etc. I lost 12 pounds in a week could not believe it. Also could not believe I was able to stay on a liquid diet all week. Hardest part was watching the rest of the family eat. Most times I went in the other room. I also found it amazing I did not feel hungry. I guess that was the swelling and the protien drinks. Cheers to you. :D

Sasha & grandma13 I am 6 weeks out from surgery and I had no problems with fluids starting in post op. I slugged 3 one oz med cups of Water like I was in a bar and the nurses freaked! I got home at 2:00 that day and got 50 oz of Water in before bed! Like 1shauna1 said, unless it is glasses of fat the water is good!!! Keep up the good work!

I'm worried at not having energy with only Clear Liquids post op. Anyone suffer from fatigue? My plan is to have surgery on Tues May8th and go back to work he following week. I have an office job but I'm thinking I might have trouble carrying my laptop bag across the parking lot (about the size of a football field) then through the plant (another football field) to my office? Any thoughts?

The Clear Liquids are the worst, but by the time you are back to work, hopefully you're on full liquids (like Protein Shakes and creamy soups).

Divine_Woman, not to hijack this thread but perhaps you could get a rolling backpack for your laptop for the first few weeks. I had a collegue that had a very difficult gall bladder surgery (out of work for 3 months, which is not normal people so don't freak out) and she got a rolling backpack for her computer.

It depends on the surgeon; I had 2.5 cc in my band after surgery. But I didn't really feel any restriction from that.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
