Shoulder Pain... Is It The Band?

Recommended Posts

I've been getting some shoulder pain, between chest and shoulder. It feels like when I got out of surgery and had gas. Is it the band and is it normal? It happens out of the blue.

It could be diet...maybe you ate something spicy? I have had that happen occasionally but it goes away. Usually directly associated with my diet. If its not gone, call your doctor.

I get shoulder pain if I eat too much or if I am hungry.

That's the phrenic nerve that passes through the area. It's an indicator you've eaten too much or too fast and the nerve gets pinched. Try eating slower or less. It happens quite often to many people so don't panic. Take it as an indicator that you've eaten too much.

I get that shoulder pain when I eat too fast or when I need to stop eating. It sure makes me stop or slow because sometimes it is bad!!

Wow!! I get that too and had no idea, in my support group they said that it's residual gas from surgery, but surgery was a month and a half ago. I'm glad to see this, I'm going to start paying more attention when I get that pain and see if it's after I've eaten.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
