Uncomfortable Feeling.....

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill about 2 weeks ago. Once I started eating solids again I started to feel this uncomfortable "stuck" feeling in the middle of my chest, like the food is not going down but only the first few bites. I know I'm not supposed to drink Water during a meal but this is the only thing that helps the food go down further. Once it passes I don't drink water for the rest of the meal and everything is fine. This happens at every meal and like I said it's only the first few bites. I have tried smaller bite sizes and chewing the hell out of every bite but it doesn't seem to matter. I have another doc appointment next week and will address this but was just wondering if anyone has gone through this.

2yrs into my journey, I still occassionally experience that feeling. Instead of drinking Water, if you leave it for a few minutes, it goes down. This is provided the bite was small and you had chewed it well. There is a difference between that tight feeling and a stuck though, so be mindful. Good luck, hun.

Same experience and feel the only solution is chewing until it is liquid and not pushing food down too fast. It is hard to break old habits and even harder when you are with a group who is eating like the "good ol days". I do tend to drink some Water with meals - I know it is a no no but it helps with that feeling and worst case, when it gets bad, I just bring it back up and start over on slower with a lot more chewing.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
