So Tight

Recommended Posts

So I went for a fill on Friday. I thought i had 3cc and before i had surgery they reomoved some. Come to find out I only had 1cc no wonder I had been eating the house down. She asked me if i wanted 1cc or 2cc I said 2cc since I still swell alot from a previous surgery. they told me to do liquids for four days. Normally I do but i went out with a freind and had 4 pickle chips ran to bathroom. Had piece of chicken ran to bathroom. I new thats what would happen if i didn't listen to dr but I couldn't resist. So today I'm paying for it my band was so tight my ribs hurt and I have never felt hungrey like I have today. Lesson learned listen to dr. So I've had broth twice today and four popsicles. I can feel my band is getting back to normal as the day goes on my ribs hurt less and the hunger feeling has went away. Shew i have so missed my sweet spot. Tomorrow will be better since i followed the rules. After four days of liquid I can move to mushys two days of that then back to solids. I know i didn't listen to the dr but this just reminds me how the band helps me and I think i neded a reminnder. LOL! I still love my band. I found a new popsicle today its dole fruit OMG I love them so yummy! So i have 2cc in my band and this will be good for a good long time. weird how before surgery i had 4cc and it was fine but now I have 2cc and am tight.

Journey4me::::: My first fill was in 2009 and I felt tight for about three weeks I got 1cc. My dr requires us to do four days liq,2 mushy then back to solids. Because people some tend to swell after a fill. Im one who does swell after a fill just how it works for me not everyone does that.

Dee Dee Dee. Nope not when u eat the wrong thing. When u eat the wrong thing and BP wich is pucking it up Its like u burp not bening to that a sighn of i went to far. Then i better run to the bathroom and up it comes. I don't do that very often. I know better that to skip my liquid stage after a fill.Your band gets tight because it swells when u barf.

rha2k;;;; yep that always happens to me if i do that I slime or throw up then swell and it closes the band off more. Most of the time I follow my drs rules but sometimes temptation gets the best of me but I am reminded real quick. Its been seven days since my feel and yesterday was the first day I tried a cream Soup but i hadded losts of Water and had less then a half a cup. Today I had less than half cup of chili for lunch and supper but I had made it myself ahead of time and froze it. It has Beans, peppers, onions, hamburger, meat, noodles and mushrooms. But I use my pamppered chef chopper and chop everthing till it can't be chopped anymore. It was so good I am stuffed love that feeling. Shew last friday thought I was gonna die i WAS SO TIGHT. Love my strawberry fruit popcicles during this past seven days. they are cold so goes down fine as it melts. I even had to drink hot water when I had liquids. If you are tight. Drink hot choclate or anything really hot so broth works good.. Plus really cold things like popcisles but not ice cream. So glad my band is getting back to normal sweet spot. 2cc is all I need. Good luck with your feel tough it out if u can cause it will loosen just do those tricks.

Hi all,

Feeling like I may have made a mistake today by getting a fill. I only got .2 but now I am at 6.7 cc's. Crap the heartburn is brutal! I have only been sipping but not getting far. I am hoping after 2 days that it will calm down. Hot choclate has worked the best today I am managing to finish it. Gurgling & burbing :). Tried Jello OK but no calories. I will try my shake again in a bit. Better to sip and get some. Dying to get these last 30 lbs done! Good luck all!

K

Oi. This is where I'm at. I've been banded 14 months and have never been this tight. I'm struggling to get liquids down as well. I'm on day 3 so I'm hoping that after the weekend the swelling will go down. I had some chocolate milk this morning and pb'd (I NEVER used to PB, ever) so I went for a hot chocolate and that helped. I'm sipping Water right now. We have 3 bday parties at work today and someone brought spinach dip so I have a tiny plate of that waiting for me to try once I get through some of this water. Crazyness!!!

I can't do dairy in the mornings anymore. Try a hot liquid first thing, it can help open you up a bit.

Only thing I get down in morning is my Premier Protein shake. 30 gm Protein. 1 gm sugar they ate great. You can warm these like hot chocolate warm does go down easier when tight

Went for 1/2 cc unfill yesterday and already feel so much better. Those were the longest two weeks of pbing broth and posicles ever. I was 8 pounds down yesterday at the dr that was only good thing out of it. Time to start a new day and its gonna be a good one.

I had a de-fill yesterday too, of .25cc. It has made such a difference! Before I couldn't even drink my coffee in the morning without getting stuck. This morning....ah, glorious coffee!

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
