So iv read that its normal and alot of people get them when they are full or its a sign to stop eating. but im still only on Clear liquids.

why am i getting them so often?

what does it mean? is my stomach healing or something? (that may sound stupid)

is it ok?

if anyone can give me any feedback i would love it.

thanks guys!

it is because of where they place the band is near your diaphragm and it causes you to have hick ups

My sister had Gastric Bypass years ago and when she ate too much she would begin to hicup. For her it was usually a sign she was going to throw up. Her surgery was about 3 or 4 years ago and to this day she still gets the hicups when she eats.

It"s weird because some people get the hicups and some don't. From what I ahve read some banded people say it's there body telling them they need to stop eating or that they ate too fast.

If I eat to fast or don't chew well enough I get the hiccups also.

I blame everything on gas lol. I suggest some gas x strips. See if that helps. I have back pain sometimes, and someone told me it was gas...so I take gas x strips for my back pain. Who would have thought? I definitely think it has something to do with air getting into your stomach and the hiccups is your bodys way of getting it out. Just an idea! :)

It doesn't really matter what stage your on, you can get the hicups at anystage from eating too fast or too much. People are claiming they get the hicups from drinking Water too fast after being banded.

I had the same thing for about 5 days post op. It finally went away.

Hiccups are a muscle spasm of the diaphragm and may just be continued healing or even that combined with a little irritation at the liquid going down, This can depend on the temperature of the liquid...they can be unpleasant but I think it will pass.

If I drink too fast (not waiting until all of the liquid has gone down), then I get hiccups. Cold Water especially give me the hiccups if I drink it too fast. I try not to take more than two drinks at one time.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
